Alfred Morris might be biggest steal of the offseason

The Cowboys have three starting caliber running backs on the squad. My guess is we have three top 15 running backs on our team here.

McFadden was 4th in the league last year despite Joseph Randle being the starter for the first 4 games of the season. Some of this was due to injury, but I think the recent success McFadden had puts him in the argument for a top 15 spot. Maybe that is unfair because a lot of other running backs could have success behind this line, but fact is he did it.

More importantly though is Alfred Morris who is only in his 5th year in the nfl with rushing yard ranks of 21, 11, 4, and 2.

I think we're seeing what Morris can do again with the right pieces around him. I think he is going to have a really stellar year. Right now he is 4th in the league in preseason rushing yards. George Atkinson had 1 run of 53 yards, where the majority of his production comes from. Morris fits our scheme perfectly and really gets those dirty yards. The fact that we don't need him to carry this team says a lot about how good Elliott is. I think unlike Murray though, we're going to be able to keep Elliott fresh, and have some really successful running production in the playoffs. I think that is the biggest argument for keeping McFadden this year.

The fact that we got Morris for so cheap and for two years is such a great deal for us. Very excited about what these running backs can do for us behind this line.

When they signed Morris I thought that WAS the answer at running back. And had no issue with it.

Seeing this post makes me think about McFadden. Is this line really that good? HELL YEAH! Yesterday I saw Collins absolutely abuse a DT, and on the same play, I saw Fredrick push two people out of the way, same play, I saw Martin move his guy out of the way. This offensive line is down right abusive in a good way.

Any running back in the world would salivate over playing behind this line right now. I may be changing my mind on Jerry Jones, he built a wall.

It's interesting. Who is the better running back Alfred Morris or Lamar Miller?

Most people would probably tell you Lamar Miller, but Alfred Morris' numbers for the exact same time period completely dwarf Millers.

Morris - 4713 yards 29 touchdowns
Miller - 2930 yards 19 touchdowns

of course this is also because miami used Miller so poorly, but I think it is interesting that Lamar Miller comes in at 6.5 million per year when Morris was signed for 1.75 million per year.

i think mike wallace in baltimore is going to be a great fit also.

Could be based on perception and "upside" ....or Alfred needs to find a new agent

If the season started today, Morris is my starter. McFadden occasionally spells him and in on some 3rd downs and work EE in in the most advantageous situations.

Well I think the general thinking here was the Miller had the upside, he just needed to be used properly, where as Morris has had a worse year every year into his career.

We didn't draft Elliott to sit on the bench. You can't treat him like this shiny new toy, that you don't want to get dirty or broken. You've got to play him and play him significantly. I would say, I still want him to get minimum 15 carries per game if not the full 20. Given Morris 7-15 carries per game and McFadden 5-10 carries per game.

Initially I would bring in Elliott in mop up duty, jmo.

Morris has been undoubtedly better, but I think the perception was his arrow was pointing down, where as Miller was trending upward.

It'll be interesting to see what we do at RB. Zeke and Morris would seem to be locks; maybe a real decision will be postponed by putting Dunbar on PUP.

You should check out per touch numbers and not aggregate stats.

We would have been more than fine with Morris McFadden and Jackson/Dunbar.

So stupid.

Who wants to be fine when you can get a generational talent to revolutionize your offense? Stupid? Not seeing how.

There were several here that could easily see that Morris was a perfect fit for the Cowboy offense.

Commanders used to have a capable offense, but over the years it has gotten pretty bad. Morris got worse as the squad got worse.
