I haven't been following this thread, but I'll say this.

Ellen is a terrible, weak judge and this show is going to suffer when Simon leaves.

My wife and I were saying the exact same thing. Not very good. Any what the heck was Kara wearing last night???

ellen was probably very nervous being that it was her first live show. maybe as the season progresses, she'll get more comfortable.

After seeing the two groups....this definitely should be Idol's last year. Sheesh! I thought there may be some talent this year but the first two nights weren't too great.

I tend to agree, but you have to remember the mixing was absolutely terrible on television (i.e., vocals way too loud), while the music was apparently loud in studio. That's a terrible combination.

I usually dont pay attention till the Top 12 are set.

But of the little Ive seen, the only two that interest me are Katelyn Epperly and Lily Scott.

They actually seem about equal. Neither standing out. I thought they both had strong people but no one really did anything great. Maybe just the first week jitters.

Idol has really stunk it up in a few spots the last few seasons. Extending the "Hollywood week" cut-down shows into a long, drawn out anti-climactic goo and extending the dial in eliminations to a round of 24. It lets in those fringe singers who have no business being there in the first place and then we have to deal with garbage like what we had last week.

When the ship inevitably sinks, they will have no one to blame but themselves.

the remaining 20 perform on tuesday(girls) & wednesday(guys). all of them really need to step it up. they shouldn't feel any nerves now that they know what the drill is. i'm just hoping that they all pick better songs because i did question their choices last week. some, like lilly scott for example, picked a good song. others, like tim urban, did not.

me too. crystal's performance was awesome, & i was happy that she was feeling better after having to go to the hospital on i think it was tuesday.

This show is dying. As soon as Simon is gone, it is dead.
