The one thing the Cowboys have missed this era . Or shouid I say the biggest thing they’ve missed is building a top 5 caliber Elite defense .
Some fans forget even with HOF QB’s like Roger and Troy we had top caliber defenses . Doomsday was our motto.
But in this Cap era it’s difficult to build both . Most either have an Elite QB or Elite Defense . The Cowboys have not had either this era.
Even when the Elite QB’s this era have had more success it was usually with a better defense .
I’m not sure why this hasn’t been a bigger priority for our franchise this era. The only top defense we have had this era was in 2003 which took Quincy to the playoffs .
I'm still nervous about the run game scheme and roster.
Because the NFL is trying to cater to the fantasy football nerds. I mean they post fantasy points for players in stadium during the game these days. Not enough fantasy stat measurables on defense and that generation is too dense to enjoy a good hard fought defensive battle.
Uh, why would I be happy about that? Then you should be happy to learn that its little to do with the "running scheme" and more to do with the Oline and Zeke Elliott.

You can't read. You picked out what you wanted to pounce on. Everyone knows your take on Elliott, I have no desire to go on and on.Because you were all worried that it was the scheme and it has nothing to do with that.
It could be. Defenses will need to hold playoff caliber teams to less than 20 points. Probably even less than that if this offense doesn't step up now that it has less overall talent.
We will do good to keep the same level of defense we had last year with our loss of talent to free agencyThe one thing the Cowboys have missed this era . Or shouid I say the biggest thing they’ve missed is building a top 5 caliber Elite defense .

2021 #1 O, and #7 D so what happened, what a non elite QB needs is a dominant D and that isn’t Jerry’s way. You spend unwisely mostly on the O,like a tier 2-3 qb elite money, pay top money to rb and wr it’s hard to build a great D when you rely on low cost draft picks to fill the D out. Couple all that with a coach like JG or MM and SB become a dream only in the homers eyes.Ok, understood. I agree. The way I took your opening post is how an "Elite" QB is needed if you don't have an "Elite" Defense or Offense. I don't agree with that. Having a Top 10 QB along with a Top 10 Offense AND Defense should definitely be more than enough to reach a conference championship game or a Super Bowl...in my opinion.
Offense sells tickets but Great D’s are to costly and balance takes a smart GM and HC unfortunately Dallas has neither. An Elite defense could set up the offense for more points or score themselves.
Not sure why Elite defenses aren’t more attractive this era?
Just JAG according to AC, who would want a qb like that.Since you asked and this is straight off Pro football reference website:
Yeah and I didnt mention 449 TD passes.Just JAG according to AC, who would want a qb like that.
Also 4 time NFL MVP
Remember when everyone thought he was a sure bet for CPOY only for a 2nd year QB with like 7 career games under his belt to swoop in and steal it from him while leading his team to the Super Bowl?Dak won a rookie something or other I think...

The 2016 way is the only way you're going to have success with Dak as your QB.So I looked it up - Dak won offensive rookie of the year in 2016, which I'm not sure he really deserved. Both Zeke and Dak had hella good rookie seasons, but people seem to forget that the offense was very balanced. The run game complimented the pass game and vice versa. That's also the reason why Dallas was playing so well early on in 2021 - balance. Everything went to hell when the run game started stalling and Dak couldn't read certain defenses. If not for the crappy NFC East the 12-5 finish is a dream. It was the difference between the wildcard and sitting at home for the playoffs.
So you're being hypocritical and much different in defining "Elite" when it comes to a QB and a Defense.I don’t care what you think it sounds like. I haven’t defined what an Elite defense is like I did QB. That reference was meant to read if we didn’t have an Elite defense then top 5-10 would go a long way.
