An Elite defense with Dak could be enough

So you're being hypocritical and much different in defining "Elite" when it comes to a QB and a Defense.

You lost this thread's argument by not applying the same "Elite" meaning to every position/group talked about.
I’m trying to avoid the Dak Homers getting over sensitive .

You think Dak is an Elite HOF caliber QB and why the Trolls make a living here.

Nope, add a good to great running game to the elite defense.

Even when the Elite QB’s this era have had more success it was usually with a better defense .

I’m not sure why this hasn’t been a bigger priority for our franchise this era. The only top defense we have had this era was in 2003 which took Quincy to the playoffs .
Because Jerry does not comprehend what it takes to build a better D.

This thread hasn’t attracted anything but support for fans more in the middle except for one Dak Troll and one Dak Homer which I’m beginning to wonder which is worse.
That's on you. You know better than to start a thread w/ Dak in the title.

With all due respect, an elite defense is enough for any QB.

Ask Dilfer and his Ravens.
Ask Hostetler and his Giants.
Ask Bradshaw (I said it) and his Steelers.
...and so on

But with the rules today, if we're banking on an elite defense, ain't going to happen. I'd rather spend the picks and salary cap on an elite QB.

Brad Johnson, Mark Rypien, Doug Williams, Jim Plunkett, Joe Theismann, Joe Namath. And if Marino and Fouts would've had D's, they'd have won several.

2021 #1 O, and #7 D so what happened, what a non elite QB needs is a dominant D and that isn’t Jerry’s way. You spend unwisely mostly on the O,like a tier 2-3 qb elite money, pay top money to rb and wr it’s hard to build a great D when you rely on low cost draft picks to fill the D out. Couple all that with a coach like JG or MM and SB become a dream only in the homers eyes.
Cowboys D was 19th in 21.

The one thing the Cowboys have missed this era . Or shouid I say the biggest thing they’ve missed is building a top 5 caliber Elite defense .

Some fans forget even with HOF QB’s like Roger and Troy we had top caliber defenses . Doomsday was our motto.

But in this Cap era it’s difficult to build both . Most either have an Elite QB or Elite Defense . The Cowboys have not had either this era.
Do you plan on putting Dak in at LB or something? I prefer him on the offense.

Now you're being hypocritical.

You consider a Top 10 Defense as being "Elite", but you don't consider Top 10 QB in Dak as being "Elite"???????????????????

You either have an elite defense or you don't. It's not a ranking. Same for QBs. The '77 Cowboys, '85 Bears, 2000 Ravens, 2013 Seahawks, just to name a few. We had no elite defenses last year.

Paying Inepto all that Cap cash and you want what a Doomsday defense???:muttley:
Hope we have enough Cap to pay 7 and 11 and let your Doomsday dreams die a cap death!

I can see the prospective team that the Cowboys field in the 2022 season being a repeat participant in the playoffs. Barring a host of injuries to players on areas of the team that aren't especially deep in backup help, they should fare well. Hopefully they'd avoid another early exit. Philly will be likely to give us stiff competition at year's end, but hopefully, we'll find some measure of playoff success if the football gods prevail. Our defense will make it so.

Yea , I forget about Fantasy. These fringe fans are what the league is attempting to attract instead of building defenses to win a championship.

No more of Doomsday, Steel Curtain , Purple People Eaters, Fearsome Foursome and Monsters of the Midway.

With the way QBs and WRs are paid today, I don't think it's possible to have an elite D. A good D, but not much better than that. That 2013 Seahawks team was a combination of lucky draft picks and players on rookie contracts. And they fell off quick.
