Another layer to Zeke's case

Looks like the wheels are in motion to fast track this thing to court. Zeke very likely will play in Week 1.
Depends on the timing of the NFL. If they drop the verdict late Friday afternoon of next week, he might not have time to get an injunction. That said, a judge would likely frown on that move teamed with all of the NFL's other missteps that suggest ulterior motives in this case.

While a Cowboys bias may not be at the heart of this, it would appear that the NFL did jump at the first high profile case in an attempt to attone for previous sins. The difference? In their previous sins they clearly had the burden of proof? Zeke's case? It's about feeding the public a poster child for domestic abuse reform. And the sad thing is, given the one witness they have in this case, it is painfully obvious that this was purely a political move.

This is what people need to recall when it comes to the NFL and federal court. And for the last 30 years it has been Kessler that has been handing it to them.

Brady had to do with the game itself and its integrity. The courts have long given them latitude to do what they want in this regard. here they are calling Zeke a criminal, withholding evidence, and singling him out without any CBA change. The two situations are not the same for as much as people want to give the NFL omnipotence.

Brady still got favorable rulings from 2 of the 4 judges that heard his case.... Kessler is really good

He had a shot of winning if he kept fighting because other ball manipulators only got fines but one Brady was Guilty and two the Pats are experts at turning bad news into winning fuel

Law enforcement agencies across the U.S. should all turn to Goodell since he obviously knows more about when charges should be filed than the entities that make a living doing this do.

Goodell is like Judge Roy Bean....judge, jury, and executioner.

He is more like Judge Wapner to me.

Best thing would be get it reduced to 4 and take it to court allowing him to play week one and then drop it and sit the next 4 weeks

And running to court wouldn't be about removing that woman beater label either

And maybe you are right but for you to pontificate when it's not your name on the line is laughable.

When you are a 21 year old kid who just had his name tarnished you are going to look for any means to fight back. If he's truly innocent he's going to take any legal path at his disposal to try to gain any footing here, get any win he can.

So yea, it's easy for you to say Elliott should just take the punishment, just wear the label woman beater and move on because it's no skin off your butt.

If this thing drags on it has the potential to ruin our season. Dont underestimate the impact of off the field issues on performance. This will be a huge millstone around our necks until it is over. Do we really want the suspension delayed until later in the season? Even if reduced by a game or 2?

My big fear is that there is some damning evidence not in the public domain. NFL seems very confident - saying physical evidence they have is enough, so they dont need any testimony. Physical evidence is a lot more reliable than testimony.

Also, as Ive said on other threads, reasonable doubt does not exist in civil law. This is civil not criminal. Its all about balance of probabilities. All NFL has to show is that Zeke is the most likely candidate for the physical evidence - which isnt the same as saying with certainty he is responsible.

I fear that unless Zeke can show physical evidence along the lines of e.g. a passport stamp showing he was holidaying in Australia, then thats it.

All these injunctions etc likely will only impact on the timing of the suspension, which isnt necessarily good for the team.

It won't impact a thing, if it somehow manages to mess with every players head and staff, I would want to blow up this team and start over.

Let's not exaggerate this - about the only way this would impact our season is if Zeke misses time and Morris and McFadden don't step up and our running game takes a serious hit.

Habeas Corpus is Latin for 'show me the body.' It can be ignored, only in cases of war or treason. Article 1, section 9, paragraph 2.

This will probably reach the courts where real protections for federal levels of law, will actually be given actual validity in determining culpability related to an individual.

There is no timetable for the NFL to rule on the appeal's hearing. How many think the decision is announced after the Giants game?
I think Mara being bed-buddies with Goofell, he gets this done this week so any reduced suspension starts for week1 and he misses the midgets game
