Anyone else having trouble finding any enthusiasm about the Cowboys right now?

I don’t believe Dak is good enough to win with in the playoffs at his price tag given the organization’s philosophy. A full rebuild or retool would be more interesting. If Dak gets extended at 55 million+ it just extends the purgatory.
This part says it all. But remember, Dak's price tag really doesn't matter given their philosophy. A rebuild goes against it as well. We need an elite QB to win with their philosophy.

Keep in mind most teams aren't that active. There are only a handful of teams that are constantly at it. Another handful become more active when the opportunity presents itself.

I could be wrong, but I think most of the complaining comes from older fans like myself, that were used to the Cowboys doing anything to win for decades. To what we have now.

Yup. Ive never felt so crappy and frankly a bit uninterested about my Cowboys team. This is new territory for me. The draft will decide some things for me.

Anyone else having trouble finding any enthusiasm about the Cowboys right now? After the Packer collapse, confirmed lamb duck coach status and lack of meaningful FA activity there’s not cause for hope, much less optimism. The window is shut with CD and Micah due big extensions. The front office isn’t going to mortgage the future to build around its stars. Meanwhile the Commanders might be formidable pretty soon and the Giants probably tic up as well.

Even the draft, which I always look forward to, is just kinda meh. So many holes on this roster and let’s face it McClay and the boys whiffed big last April.
What a poor, sad and miserable post. You demand a Championship, nothing wrong with that, but when you don’t get it you resort to this.

Yeah, my expectation for this team is at an all-time low right now.

I will watch the draft with my brother, he is a huge Titans fan.

But after that abortion of a pick in the first round last year (looking at you Mazi), I have zero confidence in this front office.

I'm sure the geniuses in the war room will solve all our problems with the 23rd pick. They sure nailed it with Mazi last year, so no reason to think we won't get the steal of the draft this year.
Seriously, it's more interesting to look ahead to 2025.
Exactly.............the same guys that thought Mazi was a 2-gap penetrator are making our first round pick this year.

Hard to have confidence in that.

They mean well. We are all in this boat of expectorants and wishful thinking. The hopeful drivel is barely backed up in numbers or fan sentiment.
But the super fan bs can be endearing in a pathetic way but they mean well. As long as Dan is taken care of.
The constant pom-pom waivers are just as bad as the debbie downers.

Team has not won jack in 30 years, but they tell us "There is a plan, trust the plan, it has not been put into practice yet".

And this plan is different from the plans in the previous 30 years?

How exactly?

Its like Bob Haze always posts (he has some of the best posts on this site in all honesty)....."if the same people that have failed for 30 years are still making the decisions today, why should anybody expect different results? If they knew how to build a winning team, would they not have done it by now?"

Exactly..............like I said, Bob Haze has some of the best takes on this site, he is not a debbie downer nor is he a constant pom pom waiver, he just tells it like it is.

I Am Im the dumb blonde who actually bought into the All In and then to watch how it all un-folden really angered me. I grew up watching the Cowboys with my Dad. Yes I am a Daddy's girl. :) If he was alive today I dont think he would be a happy camper to see just how Bad this Team has been ran All you Old Timers know what I am talking about. I want to be hopeful yeah I will still root for them cause in some ways Im a delusional fan.

Yea , I hate to take away a glimmer of hope but it’s certainly not a good plan.

It continues to baffle me how so many fans can be so easily sold or buy into the hype each year.

I guess they just want to believe or struggle supporting a less successful organization.

Apathy is the only answer !!
Which is Jethro’s biggest concern.
I think it hard for some of us who had generations of Cowboys fans, watching games with the family having get togethers Really even after the firing of Landty did any of you old timers think this team could ever have gotten this bad? I knew we would have tough times but not darn near a 30yr draught

for whatever reason, the front office is doing next to nothing to get excited about.
cut dak - people can get happy about that.
resign dak - people can get happy about that
resign ceedee - people see a committment, even if they don't like it.
but right now - nothing. nothing has been done to give any base hope. all we can do is live with crap clickbait articles on social media about what the cowboys MAY do.

and it sucks.

And we don’t use FA. How do you build a team using this formula?
IMO you cant. You are not able to even when you hit in every draft. You need to be active in FA to build a competitive roster.

I liked Bill Parcells way to build a roster a lot. Back then when he was coaching Dallas.

This is the least-enthused I’ve been about thee Cowboys since I became a fan at the age of 7 - I’m now 57. I despise the way the owners run this thing.

2022 had four starters
Damone Clark
Tyler Smith The best or one of the best LGs in the league
Daron Bland
Jake Ferguson

TBD
Sam Williams
Jaylen Tolbert
Of those only Smith started day one. And that is what the topic is about.

I will say this. It feels like we are a team that went 3-14 last season with no hope. Similarly to the way Carolina fans must feel. Having said that I know we have a good team, it just feels like they don’t want to improve anything. It’s weird.
I think they're trying to force Dak to agree to be traded.

Moving on from Dak and McCarthy. Saving cap for next year.

Well, yes. I had a hunch it would get bad after Jethro parted ways with Jimmy and took over football operations . And it wasn’t likely we’d continue the same level success as we had in our glory eras under Landry.

Anyone who’s followed and studied the history of NFL and other sports know these run in spurts or cycles. Some teams have gone decades and generations without more success. It certainly wasn’t beyond the realm we could as well. And why we cherish those glory eras.

Unfortunately we are no longer that championship caliber franchise , only in iconic name. It didn’t have to be this way . But winning championships wasn’t enough for this owner. He had to be the face of the franchise and a celebrity football guy too.

I get the disillusionment but for me it is nothing new. I went through 97-03.

I enjoy player development in the elite leagues. I want to see how the guys develop regardless of outcome.

Not me! After 3 seasons of 12-4 with one playoff win, I am ready for a change. I don’t care if we have entirely new roster next season. I couldn’t care less if we go 0-17 next year. This team, the way it’s constructed is trending down! We usually have the most pro bowlers in the league and they come up short every year! It’s time for a change. I’ll have less enthusiasm if they try to run this poo show back next season!

What makes you think this is true? You really think they don't have a plan???

They have a plan and are executing it. You just don't like their plan.
There is not a single team in the NFL besides Dallas that operates like this.

What is the plan? To sit around and wait for the market to dictate what they pay Dak or Lamb or Micah? Then complain the cost of any of them prevents them from using free agency to fix the rest of the roster?

No, they have no plan. If they planned to keep Dak they should have extended him by now, opening cap space to get the Lamb deal done and add more in free agency than one linebacker and a JAG running back.

If they don't plan to keep Dak, why is he still here? So they win enough games in 2024 to pick in the 20's again next April, preventing them from drafting his successor?

If the Cowboys' plan is to sit around and do nothing, than yes, they are executing that perfectly.
