This man gets it. I've seen it several times, but my other half hasn't.
I'm not sure she would have as good a time as I would though...
I mean... Jane Fonda in her prime...

Gurly $14M, Johnson $13M and Bell's big cap hit is 2020 at $15M.

Sounds like it will get you going for sure, and maybe she might enjoy it as well. You never know...

Right. Let's check this one out, and the projected tag cost for 2020:

    https://overthecap.com/franchise-transition-and-rfa-tenders/

That says $12,509,000 for 2020, an increase of $1.3 million over this year's $11,214,000. Based on that same level of increase, 2021's tag would be nearly $14 million, and 1.2x that would be $16.8 million for 2022. That's pretty close, and actually $1 million more than the $30 million I suggested for those two years.

None of those people looked at the details. They simply reacted to the gaudy initial numbers. We now know the details and structure and it is a very reasonable deal with easy outs as he reaches old age for a RB.

Theres no reason to assume itll be $16.8M or $14M.

The RB franchise tag was LARGER in 2017 and 2016 than this year. It won't be a lateral increase of $1.3M every year. Assuming a 50% increase in the runningback franchise tag three years from now is not at all reasonable.

But even if it was, that's still less than 31.5M of the two franchise tags, then add the $6.5M dead cap, and it's a really bad deal.

It's certainly more "reasonable" than your attempts to use 2019 numbers for 2021, two years later! Come on!

It's better not to tag a player two years in a row. Most players do not want to play under the tag. Lawrence did it one year but was not going to do it again this year. Best business is to work out a deal that works for the team and player.

this is a very tricky contract to comprehend.

i think the team got a better deal than i expected.

look at the 1st 2 years, he essentially gets a raise of $15 million.
it seems the agent wanted the certainty of getting the near term money.

then the next 3 years (years 3-5), his base salary is only ~11 million.
so essentially zeke is exchanging that $15 million additional salary certainty in exchange for a "discount" in his salary for years 3-5. it is a discount because the average salary is ~$11 million for years 3-5.
if his play falls of during years 3-5, then the team is basically stuck with an extra year of guaranteed salary of ~$11m before cut or renegotiation.
if his performance falls off, he would probably be at least a 2nd tier rb worth about $5-7 million. so the loss is probably about $6 million.

the team is essentially getting a team option for years 6-7 for $16 million average salary

Not only are these deals good for both sides, but the real gem is lowering the cap hits for this year and pushing that extra cap space into next year.

SpoTrac has us about $78M in free cap space with all current deals factored in.

Larry David both is my hero and pisses me off.
He's brilliant in what he does, but no writer coming up can get away with his premise.
Not a one could get a producer's ear trying to pitch what he does.

He's in rarefied air that all writers wish they could be reveling in.

They need at least $30 million of that handy to be able to franchise tag the quarterback if it comes to that. But still, thats a lot of cheddar! And with several of the big contracts already accounted for.

Elliot can easily void the guarantees if he continues his offseason antics. So the ball is in Elliot's court to remain out of trouble in the offseason and to avoid Emperor Goodell.

Lol, there are a ton of people that dont get his comedy, just like they never understood Seinfeld. A show about nothing and its awesome. There is so much humor in everyday life that gets overlooked. LD finds it, pulls it out, and beats it to a pulp. Lol

I cant imagine his initial pitches and how he was able to get started, but hes pretty, pretty, pretty good.
