Who said anything about splitting snaps? I believe the discussion has been about bringing is some veteran to compete with TR. If TR flounders we need an ace in the hole. This isn't complicated stuff.

you can't expect another QB to realistically compete w/o giving him as much, or near as much, snaps as the starter, which would be taking away snaps from the starter
