I think Jerry Jones is a football guy....

We may not all agree on his moves......but I honestly believe he knows football.....he has learned.....continues to learn.......and is always looking to win the championship.....other so called great GM's have won what? Do they have 3 SB's to their resume?

There are alot of organizations that are looking for a championships....the NFL isnt like the MLB where you can buy a trip to the championship game.

Its hard to win the SB in the NFL......

Jerry giving up control as GM guarantees nothing......all it will do is deflect some of the blame to the GM.....but then again.....people will still blame Jerry for hiring that GM. :)

See its a no win situation for Jerry......If he hires the right coach.....then Jerry gets blamed for not drafting well....if he hires a GM.....then Jerry will get blamed for hiring a idiot as GM...

IF I was Jerry.....I would just be coach....GM and owner :) .......what does he have to lose? Fanbase? ......the Cowboys are more popular now then ever.....one thing Jerry does well.....is sell his product.....

Nothing would be better then seeing Jerry and Wade winning the Championship.....

Would you rather have Bidwell, Al Davis, Bud Adams, Daniel Snyder, ect......

- Bidwells' Arizona club was in the Super Bowl last season
- Daniel Snyder's club won a playoff game in 2006
- Al Davis' Raiders made it to a Super Bowl in 2003

Jerry "I am god" Jones hasn't sniffed a playoff win in a dozen years.

The ONLY (ONLY!) reason we haven't had losing seasons lately is we lucked into a guy as an undrafted free agent (Tony Romo).

And if CHILDREN want to say that we should go away if we don't like JJ--I can play that game just as childishly as you and say---no YOU go away.

Do things, like you always do... you get, what you always get! Hiring a GM may not work but its something that he has never done... How many teams have no playoff wins in 13yrs.

playoff wins are overrated......how many teams have changed Gm's....coaches .....etc....and still havent won a SB in the last 2 decades....

Jerry doing what he does....has netted him 3 SB's..........

Jerry is the owner....wants to win.....tries to win.....spends alot of money in trying to win....

Let him play......he deserves it......

Just the fact that Jerry says that benching Roy Williams is basically his decision not the head coaches tells you everything you need to know about the accountability on this team.

He basically admitted to undermining his coaches authority, not that it is shocking but it is interesting to see him finally admit as much.

I don't believe him that things were like that when Jimmy was here, Jimmy would release players to make examples out of them for poor play and to send a message to the rest of the team, nothing like that has happened since he left. It is revisionist history for Jerry to say other wise.

It is also a crock that he says if you write the $80 million check that you want the final input. That scenario happens every day in professional sports. Heck it happens in a lot of other major businesses, its called paying professionals to do their thing. It is also different to have final say on personnel, coaches etc... its another to have final say on game day etc. Jerry is the reason we havent won a playoff game in 13 years, period.

I will be the first to give him credit if this team wins another Super Bowl, until then he gets the blame for not winning one.

 :hammer:

I said the same thing, but you said it much, much better.

Anybody have a problem with this? I have no problem with it. Heck I have known for 20yrs now who has had the final say. When people would say that Jimmy did this and that, I would say, not without Jerry's signing off on it.

Jerry has always been the final say on everything, He is the owner, he signs the checks, he also listens to his coaches. Yes, he has went off on his own at times and sign some FAs, such as Deion, T.O., Pacman, Tank, but 90%of the time he listens to his coaching staff.

Yes, he let Jimmy and Parcells curn the bottom to the lower middle part of the roster at will, but the upper part of the middle and the top of the roster they definitley had to pitch a good reason to Big Jerry Jones.

I have know problem with Jerry as the GM and owner, he is the best
Jerry is not the reason that we have not won in 13yrs, but if you want to believe that then you must also say that he is the reason we won 3 SBs in a 4yr span, you cannot have one without the other, because he is the one constant thing in both scenarios.

Which is why we haven't done squat in for ever. If you believe Jimmy didn't have a huge hand in the early JJ+JJ years you need to look out for the living dead tomorrow night. They are real.;)

that's totally different. Jerry is a money maker and marketer(see the I got a feeling video thread). he's not a football guy and you know it. the Steelers and Patriots combined have won half the superbowls this decade. they have owners who stay out of the way when it comes to football. the Raiders and Commanders have been dreadful for almost as long as we have. Jerry is a lot closer to Snyder and Davis than he is to Rooney and Kraft.

You nailed it. Some fans just can't admit it.

Its easy....

when we lose....its Jerry fault...

When the Cowboys have won anything.....any sort of success....drafting....etc...

The credit always goes to someone else....

So.....bottom line.....look around.....fail to win the SB......its always the owners fault.....it starts at the top :)

As I see it now.....the majority of owners in the NFL should sell.......its obvious that the majority havent won SB's in decades.....

Lets all pitch in......donate money to Jimmy Genius.....and have him own the team......that way....we will always win the SB ;) :)

George Halas was a combined owner, manager, and coach of the Bears for awhile, if I'm not mistaken.

Jerry had early success because he was lucky enough to go to school with Jimmy Johnson and pull off the heist of the decade with the Minn trade.

But Jerry's ego couldn't handle not getting enough credit. So he decided to do it his way, all his way and he fired Jimmy.

His way, all his way = ineptitude.

If anything were to happen to Romo the air would go out of the balloon and this team would go right back to 6-10 (or worse).

What exactly did Jimmy accomplish when he left Dallas to coach Miami? Nothing. Jerry and Jimmy both get credit for the Cowboys success in the 90's. Great trades, great talent, great coaching, and great ownership back then. What if Jerry had been a penny pinching owner and had not signed off on those extra 1st round picks back then? More than anything the Cowboys had great, great talent back in the 90's. Besides Aikman, Irvin, Smith, etc..., they had great backups as well. We will never see a team that talented, because of today's NFL salary cap. Jerry has tried and failed to build a championship. He made some bad judgements in free agents and draftpicks, but I will always respect Jerry, because bottom line he is and always will be about winning, and doing whatever it takes to build a championship team.

Jimmy had just as big an ego as Jerry, which was main reason of the Cowboys starting to decline back then. Plus alot of owners would of fired their coach, when their coach calls them an idiot. As far as Romo getting injured, most NFL teams would have the air go out of their ballon, if they lost their starting qb.

Wow, 50 years of sucking and 1 SB appearance and you are pimping the Cards over us.

The Deadskins, really? I am laughing so hard I cant type anymore about that joke franchise.

The Raiders? SB appearance in 2003 and joke of the leage ever since. Yea, I am so jealous of the Raiders, why cant we have their success.

At least we are competitive year in and year out and no, it is no all because of Romo. We have a very good group of core players such as Ware, Ratliff, Barber, Witten, Newman, Felix, Spencer, ect...

ALL THOSE PLAYERS WERE DRAFTED BY THE GM THAT YOU THINK IS SO TERRIBLE!!!!!

Sorry, but this is Jerry's team. And as the GM, he has every right to insert Ogletree.

C'mon people. Most in here have wanted to see Ogletree anyways. I think this kid has some serious talent. Why not get that talent on the field? SO WHAT if it took big bad Jerry Jones to make the decision.

All I can say is, "It's about freakin time!"

Roy isn't doing much. So why not infuse some youth into the lineup? Again, most in here have been waiting to see what Ogletree can do. Sure it was preseason, but all Kevin Ogletree did was make play after play. Tony Romo sure liked him.

Here's another thing, what if Tony actually mentioned something about using Ogletree? Not saying he did, but who knows?
