is this really news to anyone who has followed this team since Jerry bought it?

How else is DC gonna start his weekly anti-Jerry thread? :laugh2:

Parcells wanted Spears at 11 in the draft, Jerry overruled him and we got Ware at 11 and Spears later in the draft, I'd say that was a successs.

Scouts wanted Kendrell Bell. Jones wanted Quincy Carter. Failure.

Bill Parcells wanted to stay the course and go with Romo when he was ready. Jones wanted Drew Henson to be handed the keys. Failure again.

For every great move, there's a double amount of failure when Jerry Jones' talent decisions are what drive the process.

And let's be a little clear about the Parcells/Ware issue. It is no secret he loved Spears. He was all over him at the Senior Bowl. The primary reason he pushed to take him at eleven was that he wanted him badly and was afraid he couldn't get him. It wasn't like Jones was a big Ware fan and Coach Parcells couldn't stand him. Bill Parcells went on record with how he felt about him and liked him better than Merriman, who went soon after he did. Strangely enough, we never heard Jerry Jones say much about this until it was readily apparent that Spears was the inferior player. Again, it is all about him getting feathers for his cap.

Remember when Jimmy wanted Walsh to start and Jerry overruled him with Aikman.

I don't even think this has been truly documented. If so, link?

He is the GM, he takes so much flak from everyone about everything that goes wrong that he deserves credit when something goes right.
It goes with the territory. That's why when teams go bad, the GM gets it about as often as the coach does. Except in this case, that's impossible because he won't fire himself.

We have a very talented roster right now, that's on the GM, unfortunatelly I don't like our coach, that's on the GM too.

We've also had twelve plus years of playoff failure. So start along these lines when we've started consistently winning those kinds of games again. Otherwise, we can have all the "talent" in the world and it won't matter if he's the one deciding not only who it is, but when and how much they play.

Felix is still wearing a brace so they might still want to go with someone else.

Austin is also a starter now so he can't be one of the returners.

They seem to do just fine without Williams or Hamlin last week when they chose a returner over them.

I'm not saying they won't do fine.

Wade has already stated Felix is the kick returner now.

I think Ogletree will be back there with him. But the returns will be taken by Felix.

And I think we want a LB or a Safety running down to tackle someone on special teams over a WR.

As for Ogeltree playing some offensive snaps.

This offense already has three wideouts looking for the ball and it's a big issue for the media and fans. Plus we have a Two TE set we are using all over the place.

So where is there room for a 5th WR to now get involved?

But we have been hearing Jerry talk about Ogletree for weeks now.

And again. I like Ogletree a whole lot.

But the offense is going good. Let's just keep that going.

Now mayby Jerry is just talking him up here, but then again we just heard him say that ultimately the decision is up to him so we will see on Sunday.

Have fun with this thread. I'm gone.

I can only imagine where it's going, lol.

Yeah. And Wade says don't cut Ellis because I know what he can do.

And Jerry says tough.

I drafted Spencer and it's his turn.

Right?

And you know it went down this way for sure because.........?

And how much of his feeling of Ogletree coincide with the feelings from the coaching staff?

There's room for improvements on the offense. Specifically getting td's on the 1st drive of games. So I wouldn't say the offense is "going good". There's room for improvment.

I didn't say that's how it went down.

It's an example.

Wade don't make any decisions. He's just doing what the boss says to do.

Only if you read, listen, or ignore it the way DCF wants you to.

Given that Brad Sham predicted they would play him on Tuesday, and then on Wednesdays practice ogletree was more involved. Something tells me the thoughts of coaches and thoughts of owner/gm coincided on this.

He just told you that it would't matter one way or the other.

That's the point.

The coaching staff has to hope he's thinking like they are.

If not they work with what he wants done.

As well as some fans who have liked what they saw out of Ogletree (at least in the pre-season) I don't doubt or deny that Dallas situation is not the norm around the NFL I also do not think Jerry runs around over ruling those he has hired.

I think Jerry has made mistakes and I think he has learned from mistakes which is why we do have more talent on this team than we did in the late 90's and early 2000's

The coaches work with Jerry and the comment was when asked about RW being demoted not bring up Ogletree.

Confirmation bias.

Confirmation bias.

Confirmation bias.

He's desperate to be considered one of the all-time greats. But he isn't satisfied at being a great owner. He wants to be known as the architect as well. It is quite sad really.

Sad indeed. "Man is the only creature that refuses to be what he is." Albert Camus

If Wade was making all the calls, would you have any more control over it?

Personally I think Jerry is loving the excitement from Austin and being right about Austin and wants to see another receiver with speed out there.

:hammer:

Being a Barca fan, I get a kick, often, from seeing Barca's rivals, Real Madrid, succumb to crisis talk from time to time...At present, their President has a reputation for sacking managers and diminishing their authority over the players...Often times, players would circumvent the manager and go directly to the President...It fueled a malignant playing culture and managerial structure that hurt the club.

I see seeds of that with Jerry from time to time, some moments more than others...It's the reason why the dance stopped with Jimmy and it's debatable that many successes/failures since then derive from this same fundamental flaw in managerial/coaching structure.

We're always complaining about the team being soft at times, undisciplined and inconsistent as hell...These are hallmarks of those sort of situations

Thats what great about Jerry. From all of his coaches he seems to take their best philosophies and avoids the mistakes they made. The guy is spending time trying to improve the team as opposed to another infamous owner who is currently censoring the media and fans right now.

Head coach in what sense? Because he sure as hell isn't calling defensive or offensive plays and he has nothing to do with special teams. Personnel decisions? Maybe but that's such a small percentage of a head coaches job.

head coach as in Jimmy Johnson the head coach. Jimmy never called any plays except for the occasional on-side kick or going for it on 4th & inches. I wouldn't put it past Jerry to be doing the same on those rare occasions.
