Beck offered to Cowboys?

I would agree with you on the veteran argument..but when that vet is a liability and makes 5 million next year and easily replacable?? I think it's a no brainer. It's not like he's Ray Lewis and is a leader or anything. Like I said..I'd rather get a pick for him..maybe a 6th?? his contract is expiring anyways. Use that extra 5 mil to help resign or sign some guys in FA. A 5th round corner can bring more to the table than Henry.

you can hide him, and showcase only his strengths if he's a bit player

you have the veteran presence and playmaking experience, and the ability to hide his weaknesses

huh?? I really dont think he brings much to the cowboys and why would you hire a player making 5 mil? I'd rather have him off the books and use that money more wisely

I guess experience doesn't count much to you, playoff teams thrive with steady veterans, those who aren't stars, and aren't necessarily good, but know their role, don't complain, and produce with the playing time that they get, and I'm pretty sure Henry will be good for 2 or 3 picks next year, not bad for a bit player

we're not going to be big-spenders this year, and it has very little to do with Henry's cap-hit

Henry is a corner who won't mind being asked to move to safefty for crying out loud, you want to get rid of that attitude for a QB whose future is bleak

nope, but I haven't heard any positives about him
You need to pay attention when I'm talking to you son.

Backup depth at QB is not important? Did you see the games Brad Johnson started?

I didn't say or implied that. One of the top priorities this off season is to bring a capable back up QB, even someone who could push Romo a little bit.

What I'm saying is that if it takes Henry to get Beck, then that's not necessarily something you do automatically. Beck is not the only QB who will be available either through trade or free agency.

agreed and mickey spagnola has already said he talked to people that think hamlin might go to ss and henry to free safety.

So exactly why would we give up henry? I dont get giving up henry at all. He is a good player, people obsess over his contract, Well I would rather have him for the final year and play him at corner and safety than have a third string qb.

Now, having said that I am all for getting a couple of young qbs here, as I have been for about 3 years now. But I wouldnt move henry for one. Especially with all the losers in this locker room, henry is one of the remaining good people.

Ken Hamlin at SS will not be pretty. He takes poor angles and tries to avoid taking on RBs. As a result, he misses them, and they keep running. He's looked pathetic on several runs during the last two years. I'm not too thrilled at playing Henry at FS. He can't cover the deep post. How is he going to cover the deep half or play the high, single safety?

there's a reason Hamlin plays like a strong safety, yet hasn't been moved there

horrible tackler, just horrible

It doesn't have to be.

The sun will come out tomorrow. Bet your bottom dollar, there'll be sun.

IMO if Parcells thought so much of Beck that he immediately wanted to draft another QB and demote him to 3rd string, I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole. Parcells isn't as perfect as some seem to think, but one thing I agree with him on his is the "battlefield commander" mentality he wants from his QBs. And if Parcells thinks Beck doesn't have it, I wouldn't give a thing for him.

Especially Henry, who may be slow and not a top corner, but he's not that bad either and is still a useful player.

Jeez. This smells like giving away Ferguson because Jerry thought he'd get cute and play Tank instead. Or the OJ Santiago trade.

Hopefully this is EXACTLY the kind of thing Dan Reeves will stop from happening.

I'll repeat what I have said before - when is the last time Jerry made a good trade and didn't get skinned?
