Big Henson thread...(many merged)

I respect what you are saying and agree with it to some extent...

But...given what you state above, in your opinion, no team ever makes a mistake with regard to players?

Ryan Leaf? Heck some teams were thinking he was a better pick than Manning.

Uh, this Parcells guy chose Brunner over Simms as his starter.

They all make mistakes.

And to what extent does your thinking go? Do you placidly watch games, never second guess, never get upset when a certain play is run, etc?

They all make mistakes.

Is Henson one?

We don't know yet. But he was certainly talented enough to be a third string QB. Something stinks here.

Agree with you there....

Who would have thought that a guy barely 30 was making personnel decisions for the Red Sox when they won the World Series?

We ALL disagree on personnel decisions so I don't agree that we can't say that management has made mistakes....clearly, they do. They do every year.

Which was crazy, IMO, from the get-go. Lots of people also thought that he wouldn't be.

Maybe he COULD HAVE BEEN had he just stuck with football and not gotten away from it in the beginning.

I wish him well in his future endeavors.
Had he stayed in football I'd be all over him as QB, what scared me was the time away from the game (Lesson learned from Hutchinson).

Myself I would rather take a chance on a Division II QB than someone who was away from the game for so long.

...this is a perfect example of knee jerking.

Being tied to a particular player is not conducive toi enjoying the fortunes of a TEAM.

Players come and go, especially ones who are inconsistent and troubling to team chemistry.

You mean TO?

Ask the Iggles what they think about TO

That was one of the things that bothered me as well. That and his limited playing time in college. IMO, there wasn't enough info. to go on just from his collegiate career to justify claiming him as the next anybody.

I know all about those saying that "If he would have stayed in college...." the fact is, he didn't.

ABQ, beautiful post..and I second all the sentiments.
me too. i really thought he had "it" and can't to this day understand how big bill could stick with vicenzo when it was all lost and don't give henson (or romo) a shot at the end of 2004. wish him well wherever he lands.

he probably has a gig as a college football anouncer if everything else fails.

My problem with the "they are the experts" mentality is that it simply doesn't apply and it's not an accurate statement.

I want to meet the person who never second guesses anyone who has more expertise than they do in a given field.

Heck, don't ever get a second opinion at the doctor.

If you bring your car to the mechanic, don't ever second guess what he wants to do.

Fact is, I just got a guitar back from the repair shop. The guy there is an expert. I'm not. I don't like the job he did on my guitar. Am I allowed to state that?

I mean this in the nicest way. I just wish folks would realize that Henson is just not the answer at QB. He is nothing special. The fact that he played at Michigan with Brady has clouded too many people's judgement. We tried, it did not work out, and this very interesting young QB named Tony Romo fell in our laps. It looks like we have Drew's replacement without using a high pick and he is already getting seasoned. Great situation.

Yes. Romo does seem to be the answer. He is the next Troy Aikman and we should start him in every game.

BTW, whats up with the gloves?

Evidently not....according to some people.

One must admit that the players that Jerry has brought in have pretty much just sat around....Can anyone say Peerless Price?
Or could it be that people JJ brought in like Quincy, Hutch, Henson, A-Train, Eddie George, and Useless Price are welll......useless? Its not Parcells fault that JJ tries to shove this inferior talent onto the team.

I'm not disagreeing with that either.

To be fair - the most talented guy we've released is Antonio Bryant, and Cleveland didn't bother resigning him after a 1,000 yard season.

A better question ask the Eagles would be how bad McNabb's crappy play all season hurt them...

Oops A-train and Anthony Thomas are the same person! Was thinking a bit too fast for my own good.

AB, as in Antonio Bryant?

You need some help if you haven't gotten over cutting him yet.

Hey, some people on here STILL haven't gotten over us passing on Moss. How many years ago was that?

Wouldn't it be very interesting if Ellis finally makes the Pro Bowl as an OLB this year? Sort of shoots some of the Moss talk all to hell, wouldn't it?
