I think VT was a better than avg QB last year which says a lot for his experience as well as even his diminishing talent. Of course he was on his last legs. Still he was better than many backups and a few starters in the league.

Not the point but just had to give him some due love.

Bledsoe is no where even close to VT. You Bledsoe Bashers are right. Bledsoe is a much better QB. Bledsoe still has his limitations but he is a much more complete QB than VT. Is he an elite QB? Don't know. He can be more than an adequate starter.

It kills me that people compare a 32 year old QB to one ten years older. And people have such short memories to his overall career. The guy has passed for over 40,000 yds and no one remembers it. This guy is not over the hill. He just needs protection and he can play.

So he is not Peyton Manning or Michael Vick or Culpepper or McNabb. He can't play his team to victory as one of the leagues most elite pure passers and playmakers like Manning. He can't improvise and scramble like Vick. He isn't Culpepper or McNabb. But he is a superior QB who is talented enough to produce given time to do it, a good running game and the receivers to get open and catch the ball.

Best to worry about penalties and the OL as well as injuries to the OL, RBs and WR/TEs.

I haven't paid much attention to this...but I will bet that the Bills don't make the playoffs. And that should be the goal. They just missed last year, felt Losman gives them a better chance to win now.
The Bills have a tough schedule and are in the toughest division in the league so making the playoffs will be very tough. I didnt say anything about playoffs. I am just saying that JP will do very well for the Bills. His work ethic is amazing, this kid took a week or two off at the end of the season and was back in Buffalo working out and studying the game in January (before Bledsoe was released). If you dont think thats a big deal, You've never been to Buffalo in the dead of winter -- He's a west coast kid too. He has been working with Sam Wyche all off season putting in 6 day weeks. If this kid fails it will not be for lack of effort.

I am not trying to dis Drew, I supported him all the way til the moment he was released however, I am not sure that he is a good QB anymore. Perhaps he is a little gun shy from alomst dying on the football field, which is completely understandable, but as a player you must know when to let go. He is saying all the same things in his press conferences as he did when he first came to Buffalo. Unless his dedication to the game has changed you are in for a long season.

When Drew first came to Buffalo his first 8 games were great -- but since then he was a sub par QB, in fact only 1 maybe 2 of our 9 wins last year were because of Drew. Defense and special teams won the rest of them. The Bills were in there 2 minute drill against the patriots and driving down the field, a touchdown would be a win for the Bills, then DB fumbles the ball and it's returned for a TD. Those are the clutch killing plays that you can expect from DB.

I expect JP to make some mistakes, it's a given. But if he can make less mistakes than a 76.7 QB rating Quarter Back, then the Bills are better than last year, not to mention that the Bills have a better chance to split with NE without DB as our QB, they knew all his weaknesses and boy did bellicheck expose them and kill Drew.

So I am not saying that the Bills will make the playoffs, im just saying that it is alot more realistic now that DB is gone.

Nasty that was one of the finest posts made on this board in a long time. Very truthful with a lack of childish finger-pointing. Many have refused to accept what Drew Bledsoe is. I think the first 3 preseason games are starting to make others realize what they have in Drew Bledsoe.

have fun with DB as your QB. Picks, SACKS, will throw the ball in the feet of WRs and RBs. and finally Losman can not be any worse than DB was last year. Our D will win for use as long as Losman does not lose for us, and Holcome will only play if Losman get hurt. Thank God Drew is your problem now and not ours. The N.E. game in foxboro is case and point. have fun. FROM A BILLS FAN

:lmao2: Bills fan....thanks for the advice, but more importantly to you have fun being 3-13 this year with Less-man. FROM A COWBOYS FAN

...as much as I dislike the Bills - their defense is such that they are FAR from a 3-13 team.

ROFL.
MW bro you are stretching more than plasticman here.

VT has started 3 years in the past 6 seasons. He had QB ratings of 69, 75 and last season's 76. He was clearly a backup QB and brought in here to be be one.

Drew Bledsoe was a franchise Qb less than 6 years ago and in the Pro Bowl in 2003, he has spent one season on the bench in his life; that behind Tom Brady. Last season in a down year where the Bills really struggled to keep him upright he put up a similar Qb rating to VT but was no where near as bad the second half of the season and was helping that Bills team fight for a playoff spot while VT was dying on a vine barely completing 10 yard outs.

Bledsoe has some obvious weaknesses but to argue he isn't an upgrade over VT really calls into question ones good sense. Being from near Buffalo I can only guess you have been deluged with the Bledsoe sucks sentiments from fans who had high expectations after that 2002 season and have been disappointed. But Buffalo had issues larger than QB and that team will show that this season.
Last season, Bledsoe too had a QB rating of 76, so I guess MW is right, Bledsoe is not an upgrade to vinny

The Bills will not be 3-13. I am not here to talk smack, theres no point, we dont play you. I am just letting you know what to expect from Drew! You can debate it all you want, you will see soon enough he has no more football left in him.

This whole thread was made on the false pretense that Bills fans are worried about our QB situation and perhaps regretting the decision to release Bledsoe. That couldn't be further from the truth. Even if JP goes through some growing pains, which is expected, we all agree that Drew's time in Buffalo had come. With Drew we saw that 'this is as good as it gets' with him, and it just wasn't good enough. It was time to go with the young kid with a world of potential and see if he can make it. Almost all Bills fans agree that this was the right move. Most of us agree that Drew, if anything, was holding us back last year. I think we'd all rather have a rookie making rookie mistakes (but learning from them) rather than a 13-year veteran making rookie mistakes and never learning.

You're right. I'm a Cowboys fan in Bills' country and I don't know too many that are upset about Bledsoe leaving. I've tried telling these knuckleheads about how uphappy the Bills fans were over the Pittsburgh debacle last year.

Unfortunately there are many here that are warping the truth in order to make Bledsoe seem much better than he actually is.

Maybe someone should also be mad at the defense that gave up 28 points in that game......

You Bill fans will be really down on JP Losman when your season is over in late November!

Actually, the defense gave up 22 and scored 7, a difference of 15. That's all we needed from our offense...to give us a +15 day.

And don't you worry, there was plenty of blame to go around after that game. We don't blame only Bledsoe. The thing is the order in which things fell apart...

Although we should've been beating up on Pittsburgh, the truth is that our D did score a touchdown for us that game that gave us a 17-16 lead in the 3rd quarter. Later that quarter we had a chance to extend the lead to 20-16 but Lindell missed a chipshot field goal. The Steelers turned around and got a field goal of their own, taking the lead (a lead they shouldn't have had to begin with). It was on our next offensive series that Bledsoe put the nail in our coffin. On 3rd and 6 he got sacked and fumbled. It was picked up by the D and they took it for a touchdown. Bledsoe would fumble again on the next drive but Shaud Williams recovered it. It wasn't until our last, meangless offensive drive that we managed to score again.

You Bill fans will be really down on JP Losman when your season is over in late November!
First off, our team will be competitive throughout the year based on great D and special teams alone. But even if we struggle this year, nobody will be really down on Losman because he's a young quarterback and we all accept that he needs time. This isn't some old, washed up veteran that we brought in hoping that he can revitalize his career. We know the chance we're taking with JP, and we all still feel it's worth it.
