Bad parents are, parents that don't set boundaries are, parents that excuse their children's bad behavior and don't make them show respect are all the issue. Your attitude towards parenting, honestly is a problem.

but irony is, my son has been referred to as most honest person in school, takes his lumps and never rats people out like the other rats in his grade 3 class, and is liked by all, go figure.

Are his classmates named Lucchese and Gotti?

Just wait my friend...Just wait. You will see...;)

Yes, I will. lol

I do think it is highly unlikely I will spank though. If anything 1 good whack on the butt to get their attention. If you don't have their attention after one of those you aren't getting it. But what the hell do I know. I am backing out of this conversation now since I am highly unqualified to be commenting.

That is your view but I watch parents looking like idiots as the kid throws a temper tantrum or refuses to do as told and the Parent stand there clueless or trying to reason as the kid mouths off to them as if they are equal they are kids not adults. Instead of trying to be the kid’s friend grow a pair and be a parent. Spanking a child is not going to make them violent that is a load BS.

You clearly don't understand the difference between effective parenting and treating children as equals. Again, the lack of parenting skills is highlighted here.

I remember my grandmother bought my dog the wrong sized milk bones back in the 1970s. He was a miniature poodle and ate the smallest form of milk bone but she bought the next size up and my dog was having a helluva time chewing them. I said, you bought the wrong ones, she said no I haven't they are milk bones, so I let it go knowing she was wrong. My son today would tell his grandmother she was wrong and wouldn't cave. He might even go so far as to tell her she was stupid.

Heck of a job you're doing with that kid. You deserve some sort of award. Give me a minute and I will think of one.

If I was a disrespectful little punk, my grandmother would have slap the crap out of me.

Because you are such the expert correct? :laugh2:

Save it because you don't have a clue as to what you are mouthing off about.

Fair enough but a pre/post study in the same country shouldn't have the same issue.

It does have an issue because you will find few cases where there are nationwide edicts. Look at the U.S. state-by-state basis. Those that work in that manner likely have poor mechanisms for reporting b/c they have totalitarian governments.

Children are not equals. They are little kids. Next time my daughter has a fit I will be sure to get a hold of you so you can teach me how to reason with a 3 year old throwing temper tantrum.

Reason with a three year old... Lol. Dumbest idea ever.

I never said treat as equals - that is what Dooms claimed was the option. You can be the authority figure without using violence.

Are you suggesting that you would spank a three year old who is having a tantrum? That's even more stupid than reasoning with them

Ok now, my WikiReseach -- you go and find some studies addressing domestic violence rates.

Expert enough to know that laying hands on my kids would make me a failure as a parent.

One day, I was doing a Google search, and I came across this study that confirmed EVERY OPINION and BELIEF I hold. It was awesome!

Unfortunately, I've since lost the link. Sorry. ;)

That completely depends on the situation. Ordinarily no I would not, but there are occasions a light tap on the rear gets them to snap out of it.

My father used to be tied from the rafters in his basement and beat with a belt by his father. That is not what I am talking about.

A simple swat on the butt every once in while is not going to destroy a kid or make them more prone to violence.
