Dak is squarely somewhere between Kirk Cousins and Derek Carr tier QB, which is actually a bad place for a franchise. They are just good enough that you invest resources, time, and effort into building the franchise around them. The Raiders only just realized Carr wasn’t the guy that was going to lead them to the promise land.

Yeah what sucks is the worst teams in the NFL right now are probably closer to contending than we are.

It would be top 5 all time dumbest decisions by Jerry, and that would be hard to do since we are talking about the guy who kept Jason Garrett employed for like 13 years total.

I mean its tough to argue against that. Even if you have confidence in Dak it seems like the Cowboys are trending towards the full picture just not working out. Keep Dak and you probably have to reshuffle the offense once again and probably the head coach.

With that said I think you still need to have a viable replacement, which could be Lance, but that's an unknown. You also have nearly 3/4 of the season left. This team could still get better, and you have to let it play out at least a few more weeks before the discussion is really had.

Mike is gone after this season regardless of what happens with Dak.

Unless they miraculously get to the NFC Championship game.

Dak never should have gotten the contract he has now. Dak was never worth $40 million. Remember, in 2019 the Cowboys faced the Eagles for the division lead, and probably the division championship. Dak had an awful game throwing inaccurate passes missing open receivers. The Cowboys scored only 9 points and lost to the Eagles 17-9. The Eagles QB was Carson Wentz. To me, that game was a sign to Jerry, do not pay Dak a big contract. And back then we thought $35 million was a big contract. After Dak got hurt in 2020 missing 11 games or so, Jerry gave Dak $40 million, a no trade clause and a no franchise tag clause when he current contract expires. And, he allowed Dak to make the contract a 4 year deal basically screwing the Cowboys CAP situation.

When Dak is negotiating his new contract we all know he is going to want even more money. But Jerry has no choice but to sign him or let him go via free agency, but he cannot get any compensation for him, other than a 3rd round comp pick. Now, after this game, which is another reminder that Dak is not the guy to win big games, Jerry is behind the 8 ball, but he put himself there.

for sure... I do think we know that this Scheme and Dak are not a mix, I'm not sure it works for CD and several others either they just look so out of sync all over..I get that SF defense can do that but man that was bad and has been borderline bad in spots throughout the year.

if he liked the situation he would, the no trade clause just gives the player the power to not go to siberia on a trade..generally once they know you dont want them they are wanting out also.

I agree......but with that said, I'm not sure this new offense is better for him. At least two of the interceptions last night were from slant routes that require pinpoint accuracy and timing. Before the game they showed where is completion percentage is up BUT yards per completion is at a career low. I said before the season, that how well he picks up/plays within this new offense will probably have a big impact on his future as our starting QB.

Yeah IDK....I've seen some glimpses that make think this offense has the pieces and it fits what Dak does well. I think we are simply limited to a team that plays very well in close games or plays with a lead. Once they fall behind they are not built to come back from multiple possession games.

Jalen Hurts was available in the second round but the front office didn't draft him in 2020 which was the time to move on from Prescott. Myself and several others on here proposed this resolution.

Yes, but picking Jalen was also controversial at the time if you remember. Many people didn't think he had the ability to throw at an NFL level. Back then, I was thinking more of the Tom Brady route, perhaps you could have rented Brady for a year or two and drafted a QB to develop.

Good post, my sentiments exactly. Just thought about Carr recently and how he compares to Dak. And the latter is worse.

Need to cut him now to try something different. Might shake up the team too. Continuing to build around this guy just wears down our talent.
