That's an informative update. I don't get why there's so much debate into his recovery period. What does it matter if JG says day by day or 6-10 weeks? It truly is a injury with a fluid recovery period. No point in tying yourself down to a time frame. It's safe to say Romo will miss time, Romo will be back as soon as possible, and Dak will start in the mean time. If that's by week 1, week 4, or week 10 of the who knows?

Right now, at least according to Breer's report, the important milestone is to see is when reports of Romo throwing starts flowing in. Until then, its Dak Attack time!

I was hoping someone here could help translate for me. Training in 3 weeks? Playing in 6 weeks? 10 weeks before he plays? I read this as it could be 3-10 weeks before he possibly plays?

Some of these time tables equate weeks to games even though the season does not start for 2 weeks. So really, he could be back anywhere between game 2 and game 8.

But they did try and trade back in and get Lynch and then tried to get Cook, so it's not really the same as when they took McGee. The most interesting thing about this season, so far, is that we failed twice to get higher rated QBs and as of right now, have the best rookie QB of the bunch.

And they did take a hard look at the available FA's and that deal Osweiler got wrecked that. That caused Fitzpatrick to hold back as well. And those were the top 2 with the same thing in common, both had much better D's than we do.

I can't give them a pass for giving effort and not getting anything done.

Depending on Rookies was a bad game plan IMO. We needed a real vet QB regardless. Kellen Moore and the run run pass offense was never going to cut it.

That is what I mean, the time table is all over the place, and we will not get a straight answer from the team.
I realize they may not even know until another week or so. But even then, it will be day to day crap.
I also read he could start throwing in a few weeks. But that was before this 3 to 6 weeks tweet came out.

You are totally responsible. We need an inventory of other players' jerseys you have and sincerely hope they're retired or Doug Free's.

Only non cursed jersey I have is Witten.

Luckily, haven't bought a jersey since 2012.

not trying to be argumentative but how can you say backup QB was ignored when we drafted a QB in rd 4?

I've been calling for them to draft a qb (and keep drafting them til they hit on one) for like the last five years so that the Romo transition wouldn't be as painful. Their ignorance of the issue cost us dearly last season. I'm of the opinion that you prioritize QB over all positions.

They didn't stumble upon Dak!

They scouted him, liked him, then drafted him.

In the 4th round.... Passed on him 3 times...

They have admitted they didn't expect this from him. It's unrealistic even. Dallas stumbled upon this.

So who was the saving grace in the back up QB role that they should have gotten? Matt Moore? Colt McCoy? Nick Foles? Please all those guys pretty much suck as much as Kellen Moore.
The correct answer is, none of them. Even if they (street FA QB's) were a little better QB than Moore (which is highly debatable), that advantage would be more than negated by their lack of knowledge of the playbook/system. Nobody knew earlier in the offseason that either Romo or Moore was going to get hurt. Sometimes, **** happens and you just have to deal with it. Looking for a place to put "blame" does nobody any good. That's my worthless opinion, anyways.

Injury reports from the same people who brought you "it's just a cyst" lol

What's next? it's only a flesh wound?

How long will it take until Tony can slide to avoid a hit? He'll be eating turkey before he ever plays in a game.

I'll take the under on week 5 unless we are 3-1.

Romo was ready to go back in the other night. I still won't be shocked if he slips into the Giants game somehow.

You keep on saying it. It won't make it any more accurate than the first time you said it.

Broken collarbones are ZERO risk to health....ever. Like if he had 50 of em, doesnt hurt his quality of life at all.

I believe if they don't heal properly they can lead to arthritis later in life. But I don't think Tony will have that issue since he's got access to the best medical treatment possible.

Didn't Dak drop because of a DUI, right before the draft? If that is the case, he probably dropped and we got lucky. Either way, it looks like a lot of people missed on this one considering the way he is playing.

I can't remember an injured Cowboy back earlier than expected or coming back on the early part of the projection. Based on past track record, I expect Romo to be out 10 weeks at least. It is Dak's show this year. Forget about Romo coming back this year.

We'll see...

I think he's back soon.

Lucky for us our first 4 games are soft.

2-2 or 3-1 would be huge.

1-3 or 0-4 would probably mean season over.

Backup QB was such a huge priority this offseason and we ignored it but luckily we stumbled into Dak.

Can you imagine if we didn't luck into Dak? I'd be in full-on pessimist mode and everybody would be telling me I'd crossed over to the dark side. We got very lucky.

My gut agrees with yours that Tony will be back on the sooner end of things. Especially if Dak plays well in his absence. :)

People are saying that after the fact, but I thin he really just was a 4th round pick all along. Teams didn't seriously question his character, even after the DUI. They questioned his mechanics and his ability to adapt quickly to a pro style offense.
