That very thought crossed my mind as I was typing my reply, but I didn't want to put too much subject matter into one reply. If Dak were to go 3-1 or 4-0 with very solid play, then I believe JJ has to let him play until the week 7 bye and reassess at that point. Personally, I think the odds are stacked against Dak playing well enough this year to take over the team permanently, but I'm not entirely ruling it out either. I would feel bad for Tony, but happy for Dak, the team, and the fans. It's going to be interesting. .500 ball or lower, Tony definitely comes back and the decision is an easy one. It's possible Dak does better than that, though, and puts the coaches in a pickle. It'd be a great problem to have.
I see Dak showing promise (heck, he's already done that) but also showing that he's a rookie, resulting in Romo getting back into the game as early as he can. Long story short, If Dak can go 2-2 or better, we have a great shot at having our QB of the future and that's a good thing!
Even if he plays poorly, I will have a hard time declaring that he can't be an NFL-caliber QB. He just needs a chance to learn and grow without having the weight of the franchise on his shoulders. Personally, I think we have our next QB, I just don't want to rush him.
