Great. Nothing wrong with keeping a lousy secondary together.
BUT ROMO is coming back..all will be ok!!!

I always figured he would be back one way or the other. The team just does not have the depth at the position to let him go especially if we want Jones to play safety.
The main goal should be to fix the pass rush anyways, that is the best way to upgrade our secondary.
Depth? What team is 4 deep at cb? Mo, Scandrick and Hayward is a capable 3 man group. Scandrick, Mo , carr and Carroll arent. Id take a rookie mid round guy over Carr. I n the fandom of anyone using positive words about Carr or Mo's play, sorry.
It's funny to watch people try to justify Carr being on this team in 2016.
We're three-deep right now. If we replace Carr, how much is it going to cost us just to get another mediocre player?

But if you save 6.5MM by cutting him, how can you not replace him?

That said, I could see the team keeping him with a paycut that is much smaller than the fan base expects. If Scandrick comes back to form he was playing like a #1 CB when he got hurt. If you follow that is OK to average guys in Claiborne, Carr and Nolan Carroll (maybe Olatoya as well) you should be OK if you have a good passrush and Safeties behind them.
Where is this pass rush, and where are the safeties? Right now, we have one reliable pass rusher, an option in FA in Hardy, who by all accounts is a headcase. Rookie DE's need a year. We're still intent on keeping Church who is also a liability in coverage.
I'm not trying to be snarky, but this secondary is mediocre, and I have no idea where this "upgrade", in pass rush or safeties is coming from. I am literally wondering if I'm missing something.
After Hayward's electric 6 INT rookie season, he's only had 3 INTs in the past 3 season and has missed 13 games due to injury. In that same period, Carr also has 3 INTs and hasn't missed any games. I'm not saying Carr is better. I'm just saying it's easy to pick out stats to make your case. GB didn't seem to love Hayward during his career. GB fans also say he's been a bust since his rookie season. Plus, he's mostly a nickel back and we already have one in Scandrick.Meanwhile, Carr and Claiborne have 9 together over the same time.
You do realize that last season was probably the first time in Marinelli's years as defensive coordinator that he had this tough of a time forcing turnovers?
The defense was never going to get a lot of turnovers because opposing offenses played us conservative. Offenses played us very conservative and protected the ball and waited for us to beat ourselves on offense. It worked most games. I have no doubt in my mind that Marinelli can coach a defense to force turnovers, I have many years of proof to back that up.
Like his Bears D from 2010-2012? Yeah, they only averaged around 22 INT's those 3 years
The season starts in September, not April. We are less than a week into FA and will have a ton of money to spend - and we have the 4th pick in the draft.
And even before those moves, the pass rush will be better just from the fact we will have Thornton upgrading 1 Tech and Crawford healthy at the 3T.
Casey Hayward a 2nd rounder was not offered any money and allowed to walk away as a FA with 9 interceptions over the last 4 years. Green Bay could do this because their 1st and 2nd rounders performed so well: DRandall and QRollins. Meanwhile, Carr and Claiborne have 9 together over the same time. Yet, Dallas keeps them and overpay. Brett Hundley performed so well as a 5th rounder that GB let their back up go too.
