He would do wonders with Romo, this seems like a no brainer to me. Which means Jerry wont even have him on his radar.

Not exactly. We have been through 2 real head coaches since 1989, that is almost 20 years. We had a bunch of Jerry's bozos in between.

The Broncos have had a real coach for the last decade.

Jerry didn't make the decision to stay with a proven winner. He made the decision to stay with a proven DC who is an enabler as a head coach.

That's funny, because on the list of active head coaches (ranked by winning percentage) Wade is like 6th I believe, one spot behind Mike Shannahan. Proven winner?

edit: I can't find the list, but I know Wade is in the top 10

it's like, idk

but I always associate Shanahan and the Denver Broncos

like I always associated the Cowboys with winning playoff games and Super Bowls ;)
Forgive me Jason Garrett, but I'd welcome Mike Shanahan here as our next Head Coach.

Boy would Marion Barber be a fun one to watch.

This news floors me.

No one in football outside of you would rather have Wade Philips coach their team over Mike Shanahan.

Phillips has inherited several good teams and done nothing with them. He has never shown sustained ability keep a team competitive the way coaches like Shanahan have. That's why he's on his 5th team in roughly the same time frame Shanahan was on 1.

Don't think what Marion could do in Shannahan's system...think what Felix could do.

Really, I'm shocked by the news too.

this might suprise you, but I'd keep the young guy

but of course Shanahan won a couple of Super Bowls with a couple of great players, we have that here on offense

I never said that I would take Phillips over Shannahan. I was simply showing that is was silly to say that one was a proven winner and the other wasn't. In the past 10 years, Shannahan has 6 seasons with fewer than 10 wins. In the past three seasons, Denver has won 9,7, and 8 games. How quickly would you throw Shannahan out if he did that here?

Man I'd love to have him here but it won't happen.:( Jerry won't have it.

He'll end up in Detroit where there is nowhere to go but up which will create immediate job security for him. 1st round draft choice and Mike Shanahan would give Detroit fans every reason to be excited about the future.

Shanahan is a good offensive coach and strategist.

What sunk him is he is horrific as a personnel guy. Just dreadful.

Some of those defensive coordinators he went through were pretty good (Jim Bates), but the talent on that side of the ball -- except for Champ Bailey -- is a joke. Heck, one of the top linemen is Ebenezer Ekuban, who was shown the door here several years ago. That's how bad it is.

Some of these coaches should never, ever set foot in a draft room, and Shanahan is one of them. It ended up costing him his job.

Exactly again.

I'm sure one playoff win in a decade would go over great here.

Not to mention the way Shanahan has completely botched that defensive line and defense in general. He didn't have to "inherit" anything -- he built the team that couldn't win in forever.

And that's in what's mostly been a terrible division with four gimmes a year in Oakland and KC.

Shannahan just built a 34,000 square foot mansion in one of Denver's poshest neighborhoods. He's not leaving for Detroit.

The odds were against us in the Giants playoff game

seriously?! against the cowboys?! gimme a break! thats wade-ism right there.

cowboys had a bye week, cowboys were on home, giants had to go on road and beat a team that has beaten them twice in the regular season.

the odds were against them, not the cowboys. cowboys were the faves. thats why romo and co. had the time to go to cabo. eli and co. couldnt and didnt.

Dallas would have to revamp the entire Oline with smaller Lineman that Shannahan uses in his scheme. Dallas tried zone blocking before and it was a massive failure

I was going to say that but I agree with Ramp that he'd find a way to tweak things and make our running game stout.

I agree for sure, on Barber. I'm not asking for Garrett to forgive though cause I don't want him as our HC anyway. :)

Color me completely surprised by this firing. I never saw that one happening. I'm just like....wow.

So . . . . do the Broncos have a good STs coach? :D Maybe the Broncos let go of much of their coaching staff.

Maybe we can at least get rid of Read then.

I think Shanny had a lot of say in the personnel I think that is the main reason he was let go he kind of had a duel role.
