Meh... not a Broaddus fan but whatever. If they want to keep him and call him an expert then no big deal. They want to lose him... no big deal either.

His personality grates on me but I still read his stuff for the most part. Don't really listen/watch him because he does grate on me.

He could be infinitely better with just a little less "know it all" and a tad more people skills in his work.

This is Mickey Spagnola in a nutshell:

Jerry: "We feel Romo is the better QB!"
Mickey on the show: "Romo is the better QB. And Dak is just a good bus driver. How dare people think a 4th round rookie could even be mentioned in a same sentence as Romo!".

Next day:

Jerry : "After thinking it over, we feel Dak gives us best chance to win now."
Mickey on the show: "Dak is the MVP and Romo just doesn't have it anymore. Did you really think he could get us anywhere with his injury history? "
He's Jerry's little lap dog.

His attitude explains why he is where he's at while others that he mentored (his words not mine) are now general managers.

:lmao2:I actually considered this.
So did I.

Really though, I think he's just like so many fans on here. They make an initial judgement on a pick and they stick to it come hell or high water. If they say someone is not going to be very good then they point out the negatives as long as they can in an attempt to be correct in their first call on that player.

IMO, it seems like the bigger the fan and the more they love their team, the quicker they are to say they were wrong about not liking someone and are just happy that their team found a good player. A person who is just a casual fan cares less about how the team does than they do about being right or wrong.

Not saying I'm right but that's how it seems to me.

Broaddus isn't a Dallas fan. He's a Broaddus being correct fan. If his initial take is that a player isn't good... it is going to take a lot of indisputably good play to make him say he was wrong. That's if he ever will.

I just watched the podcast of today's show. Broadus was unreasonably argumentative with Derek Eagleton about Dak's performance. He even told Derek "you can get mad if you want to." All Derek was saying was that Dak has been impressive. Broadus kept interrupting him saying "look at the total body of work" (which Derek was IMO). Broadus kept saying that Dak has made mistakes in every game and Derek said that's true of 99% of all QBs. Broadus was being horribly unprofessional to the point where Nick and Taylor weren't their usual playful selves like they were trying to stay out of it. Derek kept drumming his fingers on the desk, but overall he handled it well. As the show went on, Broadus sat there with a sour look on his face, interjecting insightful comments now and then (I'll give him that). When the show ended, he hopped up immediately and walked out. He normally lingers for a little bit, at least longer than that.

In my opinion, Broadus is a short-tempered know-it-all, but today took the cake for me. I have no problem with heated conversation. It makes the show interesting. But I think it's time for Broadus to move on (or be let go) from The Break and stick to the draft shows or fantasy football type stuff. He is such a grump.

I am a Fan of his but his obsession with Romo getting his job back has made him delusional. He points out every pass Dak "Missed" as if Tony completed 95% of his passes. Daks numbers in his first career 6 starts are better than Tonys first 6 games of 2014 which we all consider his best year. And Romo actually had a better running game supporting him in the first 6 weeks of 2014. This is not a knock on a great qb. But if Dak is even close to the level of a probowl qb in 6 starts, whats the ceiling for this kid?!?! I wouldn't even think about benching him.

I don't have a real issue with Broaddus. Though it does nettle me that he thinks his opinions are generally better than they are. Like the idea that Dak wasn't showing things in camp and sufdenly he's a preseason "gamer." I don't think so. You just missed it somehow. Players have repeatedly said Dak displayed what he's displayed from day one. The same thing goes for his McFadden fascination. There's just not all that much there.

The reality is, there's only so much you can know from the outside, and a lot gets lost if you're not in the locker room or in the huddle.

No, I was at the camp for the 10 days prior to the Rams preseason game. Showers was better than Dak during practice. Also, the folks on The Break and Talking Cowboys were reporting the same, which was why I paid attention.

I've noticed he has never had Dak in the headline of his scouting reports.

I don't like this guy. He's a Scandrick guy. I have never been a Scandrick guy.

Jerry Jones hired him in 1990's, need I say more. And no team has hired him since.

I believe Jerry hired him to get him off the local espn shows.

Ron Wolfe hired him in GB so that squashes that theory.

He wasnt working on espn shows when he was hired in Dallas he was in Jacksonville with a guy named tom coughlin.

He had a pretty good stop in philly under lurie also. That is where he worked hand in hand with mike lombardi. that is why when he hinted that he knew a guy last year in the new england front office and would ask, it was lombardi he was referring to.

You have to realize Broaddus is a stubborn old fart. It's his way or the high way.

Once you realize that and laugh off the stubborn old man antics, you can parse through some stuff he gives out that's actually decent input. Most of it you can take with a grain of salt, but his line commentary is still some of the better analysis in the area.

I haven't listened to BB on the break yet. I might later tonight but if his main point is look at the whole body of Dak's work because he's made mistakes in each game. Um okay, then Bryan please show me any QB in any era who played a "perfect" game. Of coarse he made mistakes, every QB makes mistakes. That is such a weak argument.

I'm in the Romo camp as far as the great debate goes, or as another poster says I am a Romoian, Lol. But Dak is the real deal and Green Bay was his biggest test and he passed it with flying colors. Not only did he pass the test, he put some stank on it. Sure he fumbled and threw a pick, but he also went 97 yards in 30 seconds with no timeouts to end the half.

Regardless of what happens as far as Jerry's decision, or Garrett's decision, the talent level of both QBs should not be in question. I'm hoping for Romo but if this season is Dak's and he plays with the poise and confidence like he did on Sunday then I'm one really happy Cowboys fan and I'm willing to live with Dak's mistakes. Dak is unreal as far as talent and maturity goes, just because somebody wants Romo to return, like myself, still can not disrespect what Dak is doing. It's simply unbelievable. And yes BB, I'm talking about his whole body of work. I'll take that any day.

Broadus answered some questions pretty.. uhm, blunt, on twitter today re: Romo over Dak. No surprise he was argumentative on the show.
