Can Dak lead us to the Super Bowl this year?

To clarify- The question was “Can Dak lead us to the Super Bowl?” My answer to that question is “yes, it’s possible.” Is it likely? Probably not. And I say that not because of Dak but because winning a SB is not about just one player. It’s about a TEAM including its coaching staff.

I try to be as objective as possible, knowing that in reality if you’re a fan, that’s almost impossible. So with an attempt at objectivity, I don’t think it is likely this TEAM gets to a SB. Not impossible- just unlikely. But stranger things have happened.

As to the defense being “elite”....I can’t objectively agree with that. It’s certainly the best part of our team but is this defense capable of “carrying” this team to a championship? I don’t think so. It’s still too inconsistent. Against the colts and bucs, I did not see an “elite” defense. It’s certainly the best D we’ve seen around here for a long time.

My hope is we have a long playoff run. My objective brain says it’s doubtful.

The problem with that as it pertains to this particular discussion, is that the original poster along with other legions of Dak backers are convinced that the team is actually holding him back. In their minds, he's other worldly and that 4th ranked defense and league leading rusher are anchors weighing him down

They asked the question, might as well answer it on the terms it's being asked.

And the simple answer is, no. This team could be good enough to carry this schlub to a Super Bowl. But he isn't leading anyone, anywhere. He's along for the ride as long as they're able to take him

Only way he can is if the defense pulls a “giants of 2007/2011 postseason run”.

Eli has never won a playoff game when his defense gave up over 20 points in the game. In 07, they held the high-powered Cowboys offense to 17 points and one of the greatest offenses of all time, the Pats, to 14 points.

If our defense can put up performances like that (against the Rams/Saints and Chiefs/Chargers), he can.

If we get in to a shootout in any of the games like the GB playoff game, he can not.
