I don't know how accurate this might be, but it's not Hip Hop by a landslide... As of December 2008 Pop, Classic Rock and Country dominate the list. Most of the country's tastes aren't represented by what you see on TV, especially MTV in terms of music.
Well then that list ignored the demographic of kids below 18. Where I'm from anyways like 8 out of ten that watch football listen to hip-hop.

I can only think of jay-z performing at the super bowl as hi hop goes. I don't know any other current artists I would want to listen to. Today's "music" is pretty weak.

Jig and T.I. are the other hip hop artist i could would watch

So this brings up the question, Mr. NFL Goodel: WHY DO YOU KEEP IGNORING HIP-HOP?

Two reasons...

1: Hip-hop, with very few exceptions, is garbage and not fit to be called music. Give me Tom Petty, The Rolling Stones or The Who anyday.

2: Hip-hop goes against the NFL's desired image. They are arent going to push "music" that personifies the thug trash they are trying to do away with. You can't in good conscience condemn players who do drugs, carry illegal firearms, assault women and "keep it real" and then endorse music that often times seeks to glorify such behavior.

a Rap Group would just use obscenities to put down the NFL as an old American tradition that needs to ripped apart and thrown away. Rap has no respect for anything useful in todays world.

Hip hop is part of our culture hate it or not, time to get over this stigma. I know older folks will disregard it as trash but that is bc they can't get over who makes it, and don't give me that "but i love jimmy" crap. Rap is scary to older folks bc it usually has a message that they dont believe or acknowledge. Have you ever listened to classic rock? which I actually like, but it is simplified rap. They usually just have a likable refrain but not much else. Rappers make the whole song about that simple refrain. They are actually saying something other than, "baby baby...blah blah" If you listen to classic rock they have like five lyrics and just replay them for about 3 mins. Rap takes the whole 3-4 mins into saying something, not simple rememberable lyrics. Sorry, your music is outdated. Even modern rock has acknowledged this and have developed more than 5 lyrics a song bc it is lame otherwise. I know you are frightened by this urban uproar, but most of their supporters are subborbonites who are tired of the old ways....who aren't urban at all but are tired of the old ways. That means your sons, nephews, etc..

I's not basing it on demographics, it's basing it on album sales. What actually sells, throughout the entire country.

I seen him in concert, he was playing with his buddy Pink Floyd and Jethro Tull. Talk about a power trio:laugh1:

Big difference between hip-hop and rap. For example, I would love to see Common, Mos Def, The Roots, and possibly even Jay-Z perform at halftime. I would cringe with anger if Lil' Wayne, Gucci Mane, Soulja Boy, or any of the other ridiculously terrible "artists" were announced for a halftime show.

Not all hip-hop is trash or promotes being a thug, carrying illegal firearms or demeaning women. Yes, there is plenty of hip-hop that does those things, but not all hip-hop artists do. Hank Williams, Jr. sings about his proud "family tradition" of being an abusive alcoholic, but he still does the MNF theme song.

Read mine above...there is really no hip-hop that does any of that, but there is plenty of rap.

I strongly prefer hip-hop to rap music. Why not have a joint show with Will Smith, Jay-Z, and a couple of country artists? Mash it up, make something new and memorable.

What makes you say that?

I think there are plenty of white people on this forum that have promoted hip hop. I like much of the underground scene myself.

IT shouldn't come as much surprise that some country boys that listen to Merle Haggard don't like rap. It doesn't mean there is a "racial divide" IMO.

lol, yeah right, dude. it's pretty obvious from here.

racism, PLUS a little homophobia sprinkled in on the first page? stay classy, cowboyszone. i sometimes manage to forget that i'm still living in the bible belt, but i'm always reminded shortly after. :(

to the dude making comparisons to "rap vs. hip hop", it's the same thing, man. some of it just sucks, while some of it is really, really good. the same can be said for literally any other genre of music that has ever existed. there is rap music out there (quite a bit, actually) that has lyrics that are insightful, meaningful, and extremely well-written. most people here though obviously aren't willing to see that as true, or be shown any examples. that bothers me, but hey, to each his own.

just don't try to lump all of hip hop (and in the process make yourself seem like a racist jerk) in with the dumb rims, bling and *****ez garbage that's out there. it's no different than nickelback or whatever other terrible rock band singin' about their stupid trash. like i said, every genre has good and bad; try to open your mind and actually think about things before just accepting what you've always believed for no reason.

(here's a hint, if it's on the radio or MTV, it's probably crap no matter WHAT kind of music it is)

And someday hopefully you will stop looking at color. I have found through life experiences the folks that yell about race tend to be the biggest racists.

The haha at the end does not justify your remarks.

You have grandma Faith Hill opening Sunday night football and of course Hank Jr. on Monday night playing that same old worn out song. Sorry if i offened the old geezers here...hey i am headed that way myself.:
