I'll be mad if Leary goes to the Eagles.

If he's a 'free agent', he's 'free' to sign with whoever he wants. Likely the team willing to give him the biggest payday. And, after all of his experiences and frustrations, I can't blame the guy.

I hope it's not in division, but if it is, I can't hold it against the guy, it's his livelihood.

I kind of think the opposite. I believe Dallas doesn't know what kind of deal Leary will get because of his knee condition. The team tried to trade him but couldn't get good value. I believe the team doesn't want to set his market.

I can certainly see that. I just think that he will get the big money this year. Money too big for the Cowboys to match.

I say he goes to the Giants. :(

It would be awesome if this guy somehow recovers to his previous form and solidifies our line. The rest of the league would hate us.
he started injured. And went to a blocking scheme that wasnt a fit for him. He'll be in a zone blocking scheme in Dallas. Thats what he does best.

Collins will be moved to tackle before Martin will.but neither are probably going to happen.

True. I expect that we will look at Collins in camp at tackle a bit. No way he's playing T without weeks of practice under his belt.

If we do have an emergency (E.g. Tyron can't go and Free gets hurt), I expect the staff would put Zack at RT. But that would be a "get through the game" type move. He'd be fine out there - maybe not probowl caliber but he'd hold his own

"Tried" to trade him. Really more like they just had an unrealistic asking price.

Good signing but I hope it's for 2 years at least.
It is not. The signing is just for this postseason and he becomes an UFA at the end of this year. We may have the inside track to resign him if that's what the team (and Cooper) wants to do, but this is simply a short term rental at the moment.

Of course we would keep Leary if money was irrelevant. But the cap is the cap. No way you can pay all 5 big contracts.

this is the NFL not MLB or NBA where teams are willing to rent a player going into FA. I am sure Dallas was asking for a lot but no team was going to trade a 2nd or 3rd for a guy that could walk. in the NFL most players want to hit FA

Can't figure out what the deal is with Cooper. He seems to be active, aware, strong and smart and cares enough to play the position. Didn't seem like he played poorly in Cleveland, but they still released him when the starter came back from suspension. Maybe he made it clear that he wants to be a free agent and didn't want to resign long term for cheap? Just odd all around.

Signing him just for the playoffs seems odd.

Only things I can think of are either 1) they know Collins won't be healthy in time for the playoffs and they don't trust Looney as the backup interior OL, or 2) they know Gregory and/or Lawrence won't be available in time for the playoffs so they want to take Tapper off the IR and therefore need a backup interior OL since they don't trust Looney.

What's with all the Looney hate I'm reading today? He's a solid backup. I'd certainly trust him more than a Cardinals, Patriots and Browns reject.

Two possibilities: 1) Gregory is getting suspended, DLaw is still hurt, and they have decided to activate Tapper over Collins and need OL depth with some experience (not Ryan Seymour); 2) Need to sign Cooper now to active roster or else another team will sign him to a futures contract and we lose the opportunity to have him on the roster for next year when Leary leaves.

Why does Leary have to leave? Why does everybody just accept that? He's a pro bowl caliber starter in his 20's. Why are we letting this guy just walk? I don't understand it.

I hear ya. But I think we have to save money for Martin. And I just don't think you can commit that much money to one position group. Especially since we have Lael Collins to step in there. Sure, he's a step down from how Leary has played. But not enough of a step down to justify a huge contract to Leary IMO. I'd rather spend the money on defensive line or CB.

Totally disagree.

God love this fan base. They STILL want to prioritize cornerbacks over the offensive line. It's a sickness.
