Two more then!
Two more then!
um, entice them with something other than money, how? no ware was not willing to take less than what he got in denver and dallas was only able to offer around $6mil a year, which i believe they did and ware said no thank you.
Wrong! Ware was willing to take less to stay in Dallas. Dallas did not give him and offer and told him to test the market. Then Jerry mouthed off in the media that Ware wasn't willing to take a paycut, etc which pissed Ware off. If it weren't for Jerry apologizing for handling Ware's deal badly Ware would have probably be signed by the Skins or the Giants. Dallas FO handled it badly through and through which upsets me a great deal.
At this point, isn't a swap of Ware/Hatcher for Peppers/Melton pretty much even on the field, and much cheaper on the cap?
Peppers/Melton haven't signed yet and I wouldn't be surprised WE also overpay for these players. Old habits die hard in Dallas!
I wouldn't be surprised if we were interested in Peppers. He is a Marinelli guy through and through. That being said, he is even older than Ware. You won't see us give him the world. I would expect no more than 4 years, with an out in the last year or so if we signed him.

Huh? I don't see Peppers getting more than 2 years, one preferably.
Thanks for waiting until after the reported interest to fill us in on that.
Generally you have to sign guys like this for longer than that to prorate their signing bonuses. Ware signed a 3 year deal with the first two years guaranteed. My guarantee is that they cut him in year 3.
Well, if you had Nick Hayden on your roster, you would cross DT off your list too.
I think we would only sign Melton for a year. With his legal trouble and his injury he has a lot to prove. He is best off with a one year deal to show the league he is worth big money. That being said, if I'm Melton I probably do that 1 year in Chicago rather than move teams, then ultimately have to move again if the cowboys dont resign him.True, and they'll do that for Melton in a heartbeat at his age. But Peppers is not likely to get a big offer, so you can pay him 3-4 million on a one year and be fine.

Isn't Melton like 27 years old?

sigh.
it was stated that he was willing to restructure, and has a lot, but not take a cut. but let revisionist history live!!! viva la revisionist!!!
