With some exception to the Patriots all the teams have excellent DEFENSE!
Want a team that doesn't depend on QB to carry you..... build your D.
Both times garrett was lurking around tooHilarious. In fact, both times we've been the 1 seed in the last decade, we failed to win a single playoff game. Amazing level of ineptitude.
with jerry and the dallas cowboys it really don't matter any more its about making money and jerry and his family being comfortableIt doesnt matter. They dont ask the hard questions anymore because the answers simply do not matter.
That said, the chances that Garrett can deliver a championship without all the stars in the universe aligning in some cosmic synergy is remote. He has consistently done less with more. Romo made him and saved him many times. The only two times he reached the playoffs was with the league's best rushing attack, and even then he could not will his team to even a title game. Who would have thought that after last season Cowboy fans would be watching their most hated rival advance (and possibly win) to a frigging SuperBowl this year. No one would have taken that bet at the end of last year.
Please name said "quality" hires.
Really? The difference between a good team and a great one in this league is what? 2-3 good players maybe? Take them away from 13-3 and get 9-7. That’s pretty believable to me. Add them to 7-9 and get 13-3 is a bit more of a stretch, but there’s no denying the Eagles executed with personnel this offseason. They also got much, much better QB play from Wentz.
I don’t find it remotely shocking. How often have we seen teams make big jumps season to season in this league? It’s more the standard than it is the exception. The league relies on parity. That how it’s setup.
Except they lost some of their key personnel - no Wentz, not Peters, no MLB.
And yet they found a way to overcome that and continue to win, all the way to a SB appearance.
Where would the Cowboys be in a similar situation? Wait, we've seen that.
Interesting fact: The Cowboys are the only #1 seed in last 5 years whose owner is also the GM. #nocoincidence #stupid
It’s ok to let the self-indulgent loathing take a break if you want to.
The Eagles have a good and deep team. Their defense is outstanding. They built on a solid core and made pretty much all the correct moves this offseason. The Cowboys did not. We let a handful of good role players go and then whiffed in their replacements. A few key injuries and a few large distractions and it was too much to overcome.
But don’t fool yourself. One questionable officiating call in the ATL game or one more pass defenses in last year’s GB playoff game and the situations with these teams would reverse. In a league where whole seasons come down to a play or two, this can happen.
When it does, you look for the best ways to get stronger and try to do that. Rather than reactively blowing things up and starting over.
Of course you want to call it self loathing.
It's just a pretty simple fact at this point, relative to any discussion about the Cowboys. The Eagles (and to a lesser extent, the Vikings if they had won) overcame key personnel issues to make the SB. The same type of key personnel losses that we have been told by people, including yourself, that make it unfair to properly judge Garrett.
The best part about your post is your last melodramatic line, "Rather than reactively blowing things up and starting over." It's funny in this context because we are talking about an Eagles team that had cap problems and a head coach who when fired two years ago, had stripped the team of key top level talents, and yet two years later, with a new coach, they are in the SB despite other challenges.
Blow it up and start over, indeed.
Tonight was rough for Garrett supporters.
Every Garrett excuse was made laughable tonight.
Can’t win without your best player. Whoops.
Can’t win without your LT. Whoops.
Can’t win without your best LB. Whoops.
Takes time to properly build a legit SB contender. Whoops.
Philly didn't blow anything up. They brought in a smart coaching staff that was able to adapt almost immediately what they had on hand and then made smart decisions in their first full offseason.
They hired a legit coaching staff. If the Cowboys did that, they'd get better results, even with what you think is a flawed roster.
Not sure what definition of ‘blowing up’ you’re using. They changed their staff, their general management, their schemes on both sides of the ball, and their QB, on top of much of their personnel. That’s blowing it up.
