I'd rather have a physical corner that tackles and grabs than a quick corner that doesn't tackle but doesn't grab.

The refs still don't call PI and illegal contact nearly as much as they should. Hell, Scandrick's made a career off of it.

YR

Yeah its hand to hand combat as receivers seek to stem DBs at the top of routes. Guys like OBJ and Jeffries are notoriously physical in our division.

I see him as strictly a slot guy. Chidobe is much better imo. But doesn't mean lewis won't be a contributor here. He s a good tackler, that will serve him well on special teams. In time I believe he can be a more than serviceable nickel corner.

There is a difference between. Horrible, Mediocre, Average, Above Average, Pro bowler, All Pro. When it comes the physical traits neither guys are elite(Allpro) They are in the range of above average to Pro bowler. That doesn't mean they can't succeed but these guys aren't athletic freaks.

Byron IS an athletic freak. And have we seen special play from him yet? Not down on Byron, but we should expect more from him this season and I think he can give it to us.

Sometimes a good football player is a good football player: these 2 DB's are good football players added to a good football team.

I think we're ready to roll- this Cowboys team has every reason to be confident taking the field vs any team the NFL wants to throw in our path.

Oh, well not that though, I'm referring to hating the pick all year long, (probably still now) despite the success he had. Just sounds like short of walking on water you'll hate this kid here no matter what. Thats ok though if everyone agreed someone wouldn't be needed so hate away, provides content.
If you're referring to Dak, I like him a lot and think he has a lot of promise. I still think he is yet ro be truly tested though. He was fortunate enough to step into the best possible situation for a rookie qb. He had an all star o,line, tight end, receiver and running back. He would never have had those numbers playing for most any other NFL team. But....he looked great and did all we could have asked him to do. Couldn't have asked for anymore.

Lewis? I don't "hate" him I'm just sick of Jerry playing around with these character issue players trying to get bargains. How many times has that worked out for us? Zeke, maybe, but he's kimd of skating on thin ice IMO. Plus, as I've said, I'm sure Lewis will be very good, Imjust think we need to build our team to beat other teams in our division primarily and he might have some problems reuslting in lots of PI calls. I love most of what I've read about him other than his lack of size and tendency to draw flags.

I hope I'm wrong but even putting domestic issues aside, his size has something to do with why he dropped so far. Let's be honest, there were 92 other chances to grab this guy and no one did, including us. That's not ALL do to a small alleged domestic violence issue.

It doesn't mean he can't turn out to be great (ie Romo, Brady, etc) but I'm not so quick, like most here, to jump on the band wagon and act like we just got the steal of the century and our rookie secondary is going to come out and shut down these veteran receivers and qb's all of the sudden.

I reading writeups that Lewis is a good kick returner as well. For the guys that watched his college ball, what did you think of that part of his game?

We can't be a team of all good guys. You need some nasty for when things are tough.

Plus an accusation doesn't automatically make the kid evil. I'm sure the team did more then their due diligence in this case

Neither were Everson Walls or Michael Downs, but we saw what they did.

Awuzie's SPARQ score puts him in the top 10% of all NFL players. He has elite physical traits.

There is a correlation to SPARQ metrics and NFL success. It means something.

Lol, fuzzy...some discount trolling but continue that practice.

I wonder if 40 times still catch their eyes in the real world, also...

The Rundown: The Cowboys just went for another Michigan Wolverine, picking up Jourdan Lewis, who has some position flex to play both cornerback and safety. Listed more of a cornerback, Lewis has the size and quickness to play the slot. He ran 4.45 at his Pro Day, trimming the time down from a 4.54 at the combine. An All-American and All-Big 10 performer, Lewis had two interceptions in each of his last three seasons for the Wolverines. He played 48 games, starting 30. The knock on Lewis, along with his size, was a domestic violence charge that occurred this past March with his girlfriend at the time.

How He Fits In: At this point, the Cowboys really can’t get enough cover guys. Lewis will be able to play the slot and should help immediately on special teams. Paired with newly-drafted Chidobe Awuzie, Lewis now makes the cornerback room even younger, with second-year pro Anthony Brown. The Cowboys currently have veterans Nolan Carroll and Orlando Scandrick.

Other Options: The Cowboys still had Clemson cornerback Cordrea Tankersley on the board, along with Iowa safety Desmond King, a position they will need to now address later in the draft. After three defensive players in the first two days, don’t be surprised for some offense on Saturday.

Hate it! Looks like Jerry has more control then everyone thinks. Back to gambling on players with potential "character" issues. How many players will this make in the past 3-4 years? I'm so sick and tired of it.

On top of that, he may be a strong tackler and good at coverage but he will get smoked by the taller receivers (ie NY's Engram and Marshall). He also has a tendency to draw a lot of flags. PI is the absolute worst penalty a team can get in the NFL. This was a step back IMO.
