Every year for the last decade?

Once again, you seem to have your facts mixed up.

The 3rd preseason weekend is August 21-24 and the cutdown to 75 doesn't happen until the 26th. Nobody's going to be cutting running backs before that.

In fact, everyone's depth is being tested right now. Even the Bills, who are loaded at running back are down two - both McCoy and Anthony Dixon are out. And the Texans have lost their starter for over half the season.

Nobody's turning these guys loose until they have to.

But don't stop believin'!

Are there any of the 3rd round on down RB draft pics tearing it up in their camps?

Yeah, good point. I'm sure the doom-and-gloom posters will ignore this. Duke Johnson was drafted by Cleveland and pulled a hamstring. I think Washington's 4th rd RB pick hurt his knee. The only positive new RB news I can think of off the top of my head is that an undrafted FA RB (Dwyer?)in Oakland is looking good. But, he had some red flags in college.

Because Turbin is a pretty good RB as well and Seattle likes him. Again, they just have a top 3 RB starting for them along with good depth. They have luxury at the RB position, and seeing as how their offense is built around running the ball, they value it. I wish the Cowboys took that approach.

Top? Common man....Lynch yes the other two no...top talent RB is reserved for guys like Lynch, Charles, All Day, etc etc...top talent RB is not reserved for a backup ...I just don't get all the love over Michael..if he was so good I don't think guys like Turbin and now Rawls would be jumping over him. You should move this debate to the Potential FA RB thread in the NFL zone as this debate really has not have merit with this thread.

All rookies should be struggling right now as they transition from diaper school to the big leagues.

Yeah.. If Lynch did get hurt I think Turbin would get the bulk of carries.

Yes but SJ changed his stance on veterans available. Last week he was talking about Chris Johnson and other backs who have been productive in the past being available for a reason and how much he loves what we have on this team. He also was saying they didn't draft a back because they didn't see an upgrade over what we have. Now he says he felt they missed out on the draft, that there are backs available with gas left in the tank, and how people are upset with Mcafadden not playing.

His comments are a huge swing in mentality in just one week of camp. That's concerning.

I don't agree. He hasn't changed his tune at all. He has always said they were looking at backs in the draft, but didn't feel any that were available to them were worth it. There were some they apparently liked, but they didn't fall to them (and obviously weren't worth moving up for). Those that did fall, weren't an upgrade (and most of the others they did like probably wouldn't be an upgrade over Randle either). The message with the FA backs has been consistent too. He's aware they are out there, and should the need arise, there are some they would have interest in. However, nothing indicates that he thinks that need will arise. He always talks about players needing to practice when they are "banged up."

What are you talking about? I said Lynch is a top 3 RB in this league while Seattle has good depth with both Turbin and Michael. Michael was a second round pick, a SPARQ champion.

He at least has something you can hope to build on. His limited touches has to do with the fact that he Seattle just has the luxury of having one of the best RBs in the game playing for them and another good backup. Doesn't take anything away from Michael being young and still having big upside.

I think his lack of opportunities in Seattle is telling. There's something there that the Seahawks don't like or trust. And now word is around that Michael's roster spot isn't secure and that he could be replaced by Rawls.

All rookies should be struggling right now as they transition from diaper school to the big leagues.

Stuggle in pass protect, but I don't hear of any exceeding in basic run skills--which we are always told is just instinctive, translates very easy.......Beginning to think McClay et all pegged the rb draft class pretty good, gotta wait the 3 years I suppose, but thinking for rb's that should be shorter.
****
We talk about QB that are not NFL ready due to spread offenses----appears pass protect for rb's coming out of college spread offenses suffer in skills to the same extent, as they run out in a pattern very often.

Where is Zach Zenner as a UDFA again?

The quote suggests otherwise...

Then if it's dire why have they not brought anyone in?
If dmac can't get healthy, if anyone is hurt, if someone struggles then they could bring someone in but the fact they have brought in no one who really is pushing for a roster spot seems to say they don't see the situation as dire

Then your assumption is that they are right in everything they do?

the opportunities he has had let to them drafting Turbin and bringing in a guy like Rawls..he is clearly on the bubble

No one is saying give up a high pick for Michael, they are saying give up a reasonable pick for him because he fits our offensive scheme. And what has he done in Seattle? There is a reason Seattle drafted him, he's a Byron Jones of the RB position. What exactly can he do when he's behind a bellcow like Lynch?

And again, I'd still bring in a veteran like Johnson or Moreno even if we did get Michael because our RBs are ****.

He is possibly 4th on the depth chart right now, definitely 3rd but seattle is loving the kid they drafted.
