Game Day Cowboys vs Packers post game thread

Just listened to his press conference...I don't even think he was depressed....sad...no accountability, nothing....I don't even think he blamed himself and he defended himself and his coaches for the SPIKING the ball Really!!! because that was a bonehead play.
Disagree. We were trying to win it in regulation. If not for a good play by their DL, we may get a TD to win.

Another thing --- bad prep during bye week where AR catches us making substitutions/12 men on field

In the playoffs it's hard to beat a team led by an elite quarterback with first-round talent when that guy is on top of his game.
Yep, all you can do is be "in the mix" year after year and hope you get a good matchup (Pittsburgh vs Miami or New England vs Houston)

Man all season garret had the killer instinct. Then the playoffs game and we were conservative against the best QB in the league with a chance to win it. I don't feel sorry for these guys. Spike costs us the game.

I like our chances against ATL a hell of a lot more than I did against Green Bay. I thought that if we won today, we were going to the Super Bowl. Still believe that.

Atlanta's offense is a lot better than this depleted Greenbay offense we played today. They scored over 500 points this year. It would've been very difficult matching up with them with those two running backs they have.

No Jordy Nelson. Home field advantage. 2 weeks off and healthy as can be. We Still lost. What does that tell you? Is the future as bright as some optimists would have you believe? I'm disgusted. Everything was in our favor. Rodgers could dominate the NFC for the next decade.

Terrence Williams has earned the 2 spot and deserves some money. Let's not mess up the formula....

Disagree. Drops too many passes for a #2 wideout. When he shows consistency then he can get paid. Right now he's no better than an average wr and those can be found cheap. There's virtually no difference between Butler and Williams.

Ya know In the last 5-8 years the one constant with the mediocracy is the coaches. And I know the players so oh man the coaches are great but they aren't changing anything. Coaching cost us a lot this game. Just like it always does

Sometimes coaches make the players look good and other times the opposite is true. I think the latter is true in this case. Always have with Jason Garrett.

He did this before when he was accused of having bad time management and a bunch of former coaches ripped him for it.

It was zone. Don't like the call on that play, but I don't blame Byron. People are going to vent, I guess.
Playing zone doesn't mean staring at the QB and completely ignoring the receivers in your area. Jones was covering grass and did not have is head on a swivel, which gets you killed in zone coverage. That play is on him.

Twitter loves to see the Cowboys fail. It's kind of sad. They're as passionate at hating the Cowboys as they are at being fans of their teams.

Because we thought we would need it to stop the clock later.
But hindsight is 20/20.

Agreed. If Crosby's second attempt at the game winner would've sailed 18 inches to the left, then people would be saying Garrett was a genius for having the foresight to save the final timeout in case we needed to ice Crosby.

Coaching and some lazy players. Why did Jones stop on that play? And please hey Linehan a head coaching job. Please.

Defense sucks. Full stop. This team doesn't advance without a pass rush. While the offense is pretty good, it's not good enough to prevail in a shootout.

Look at the teams left in the playoffs.. Our defense is just as good as all of the remaining defenses except maybe the Chiefs.

The Packers and Falcons have awful defenses and one of them will play in the Super Bowl.

I won't absolve the defense, but we knew what we had coming into this game. Despite all those silly "We're the No. 1 ranked secondary blah, blah, blah" we were a seriously flawed defense, which was made better by our defense.
But there's a fundamental flaw in our coaching. Every year from Romo to Dak, we somehow want to put the pressure on the quarterback. We want to start abandoning the run when we get in the red zone and just pass the ball. We do this when we know our offensive line is better run blocking than pass blocking.
We did this with Romo. We do it with Dak. Three passes inside the red zone during a critical series in the first half where we get three and not seven is INEXCUSABLE!
And then, we seem to always make stupid mistakes when we get across the 50 yard line. A holding penalty here, a bonehead illegal motion there and we kill a seven-point scoring drive.

Also, we've got to start getting and playing smarter guys. Butler just killed us with his penalties and drops. The Patriots don't rely on dumb players. We need to correct this.
Defence was bad against a red hot Rodgers led GB.. but my point agrees that we knew that going in.. which is why our ability to control time and ball was everything and we failed badly. Zeke could have had another 100 yards easily.. was craving them up inside and outside..
