The bottom line is whether you like him or not, we ARE closer to a Super Bowl with him than not. A new QB could set us back a few years at least or pay Dak hoping he can break through......tough call.
It’s not tough at all. Closer to the SB is a mirage

Load up on talent on defense, draft a QB and continue onward. I don't think you need to be paying 60 million to hand the ball off and make the odd throw - even the bad ones.

Yeah so you draft a bust then you try again. No different than winning nothing for the last 30 years. What you aren’t factoring in, is we have two idiots running this franchise. You need a superhuman qb to overcome those idiots. There’s only 1 realistic way to find that. That’s drafting one very high.
Drafting a bust then trying again continues to set you back and you end up like Washington, the Jets and other teams that continue missing the playoffs year after year. If you have a real good QB you try and hang onto them. At least in the last 30 years we’ve given ourselves a chance with close to 10 division titles giving us playoff opportunities. You’re guaranteed winning nothing sitting home every year looking for your next QB. If it’s going to take a super human QB to overcome the issues that keep holding us back we’ll continue to never win anything. I would rather keep a real good QB and try and build the right team around them. That’s your best chance at success.

Lance, sign a vet, draft his replacement? Whatever option you choose, I think all can agree getting into the playoffs could be a struggle for the next year or two...that's the trade-off.

that's the point. people keep pointing to mahomes. we need to draft, as if Mahomes of the world, just fall off the apple tree. chances of a non-top10 QB being any good is less than 20%. and that's just going back to the same thing.
most of the top 10 QBs don't turn out any good. we just traded for one of them.

so a lot of these folks are complainers. they were complainers about Romo to. some of them the same people. some switched sides.

with that said, as long as Jerry is the GM, its more of the same thing. I have zero, ZERO confidence in Jerry and Stephen being able to put a championship team together.

That won’t happen. It’s proven these two in charge aren’t capable of doing that. That’s the biggest reason why I’m pro drafting a qb high.

How about we suck and draft a qb top 5. Why isn’t that a plan?
And how would Jerry get everyone onboard with doing that? McCarthy is on the hot seat. Do you really think he would tank the season so the next head coach gets great draft picks? Do you think someone as stubborn and competitive as Mike Zimmer would intentionally tank to lose games? Even if you got everyone to agree you would have to sit some very good players to become that bad which would raise red flags to the league office. Dallas may not have a Super Bowl caliber roster but it would become blatantly obvious they were tanking games if they only won a few games with the roster they have.

Extend Dak, and halfway through draft a QB high to put in the Jordan Love plan and sit for a couple years
THIS is why I have no problem paying him what he wants for a couple more years (only) but make it very clear to him that his replacement will be on the team.

If Dak walks we may have no choice but to draft a QB high. In the past 10 years or so Lamar Jackson has been the only franchise QB that was taken past the top 10 in the first round. Jordan Love has a chance but the jury is still out.

Trey Lance in 2025, Archie Manning in 2026
Going to have to tank 2025 to get a chance at Arch Manning although Archie Manning at 74 years old might be a good choice. Just don't see Cowboys tanking any year.

I think you have two real options at QB. Let Dak walk, and accept at least 2 seasons of sub 5 win ball to rebuild your roster

Extend Dak, and halfway through draft a QB high to put in the Jordan Love plan and sit for a couple years
Like option 2, option 1 probably means more like 5 or 6 seasons of sub .500 ball.

I mean c'mon now....it's not like they would be trying to replace Tom Brady, or a NFL legend at QB....he won a WC game, whoopty dooo...... his value to the team is way less than his market price...another screwup of overvaluing your players from the FO....; BTW if it means starting over, then that's where the FO is and it's their own dammm fault. Losing record means higher pick.
