I think this deal will eventually go through.ABQCOWBOY;4298128 said:This deal will get done eventually. The league, IMO, is opening up a huge can by doing this. Basically, you are inviting the Union and every Pro Union organization to come down on you like 10 ton of brick. It's fine. This only improves the Lakers position to acquire Howard. More pieces with which to work from. It helps the Lakers Cap situation as well because it gives them more time to restructure or move salaries. When Chris is an FA and if the Lakers have Howard, Paul is going to go to LA and they will not have to worry about giving up more talent. You could be faced with an LA team that still has a Gasol at PF and an Odom at SF, along with Kobe and Howard. The cap is not an issue for LA. If they decided to sign Paul and keep the rest they could. They would simply have to pay a luxury tax which they can swing with this new Cable deal they are closing. The money to support that kind of move would be available for them, if they decided that this is what they wanted to do. Either way, it's probably good for LA long term.

The Rockets wanted to make the trade to plug in the 31-year-old Gasol, who has three years and $57 million remaining on his contract, at center to build around him and point guard Kyle Lowry. But with the trade, the Rockets would have had $11 million of cap space and could have as much as $16 million with an amnesty cut of their next highest-paid player, Hasheem Thabeet. They had based their free agent sales pitch to Nene on putting together a formidable front court with Gasol.

Don't be surprised if Howard is not a Net by Monday.
He wants to go there and play on the big stage with Deron, the new arena opens next year in Brooklyn, and the Nets have a grreat trade pkg for Orlando (Lopez plus 2 1st rounders and willing to take Turkelu's bad contract)
CP3 did have a bit of down year last year.MC KAos;4298266 said:i hate the lakers, and i like the league screwing them over for a change, but i think that trade would have been horrible for them. CP3 is great when he is healthy, but most people forget how bad he was during the regular season (for his standards) he was wearing a massive brace on his knee and i think he is closer to brandon roy than derrick rose in terms of health. Most of all, there is no way the lakers could have gotten dwight howard if they make this trade. as a spurs fan, i hope this trade goes through
MC KAos;4298308 said:the reason the spurs have been abused by the lakers recently is their front court. if the lakers made this trade and didnt get dwight, i would have LOVED our chances vs them, we would have more depth, MUCH better coaching, and tony parker plays his best when playing elite PGs that people say are better than him "eevan tho theei dount ave eennee reeeengs" (that was my attempt at typing a french accent)

The Spurs are done bro, they couldn't even beat the 8th seeded Grizzlies.

again, the grizz had the advantage in the spurs biggest weakness, frontcourt. but i guess you are just a blind lakers homer that doesnt understand basketball, just that your team should somehow get the leagues best players no matter what
