Dak and the elephant in the room

I’m willing to concede it MIGHT be possible. In fact I’m hoping so.

But pouring a dose of reality on that line of thinking leads me back to:

1. Dak has played really poorly against good teams as a general rule. He’s going to have multiple playoff games to win a SB so Dak is going to have to buck that trend to get us a SB win.

2. He is going to need to ride a really good defense to get us there. He HAS that right now, but we have to figure out how to stop the run or it’s not going to be good enough.

3. Dak is a notoriously slow starter. You don’t get mulligans in the playoffs.

4. Dak is costing us $40m per year. That takes a lot away from the salary cap to maintain the talent around him.

5. Dak is trending down. Not up.

We can catch lightning in a bottle and win a SB with Dak. But I don’t like the way the odds are shaping up right now. I’d like to believe it but right now the smart money is betting against it happening.

1. Dak last season in 7 games against playoff teams: 204/290, 2,198 yards, 19 TD's and 4 INT's. Would you define that as really poorly?

3. Dak last season in the 1st half of games: 242/347, 2,679 yards, 21 TD's, 5 INT's.
Dak last season in the 2nd half of games: 161/241, 1,693 yards, 15 TDs, 5 INT's.

4. The team has available salary cap now that it is not putting to use. And surely you realize that if Dak wasn't here and "costing us $40M per year" that at least a sizeable chunk of that would have to be going toward whoever would be at QB instead. Who would be this team's QB if not Dak?

Having thought about it, I do agree with you that people should have the right of freedom to express themselves and there was no need for the poster to apologise. Perhaps there are some people on here who dislike Prescott for reasons unrelated to his play on the field which would be a sad state of affairs. I am not one of them. I have genuine reservations about Prescott as a QB which I have explained on here time and again - I appreciate there are a lot of people that disagree with me which is fair enough.

This forum has such polarising views all along whilst the team is loaded. The NFC is there for the taking this season as well.

Listen... i really don't have any problems with the intelligent fans who have legitimate gripes and concerns. I actually respect that.

My only problem is with the hypocritical, goal post moving, fans that actually hope and cheer for Dak to have a bad game, even at the cost at the overall team success.

They were literally mad and angry after WE WON yesterday!!! They have not posted too much after the game OR today because they're angry Dak pissed on their agendas.

If you look at posting patterns, you'll easily be able to tell who they are.

When we lose, they have 50 posts blaming Dak whether or not its his fault. But when we win, they discredit Dak and get mad/frustrated with the praises for Dak AND the team and they stop posting for a while.

No problem, im glad you asked. Here's what I mean by "goal post moving".


1. Week one, Dak definitely didn't play well, no question.... and there were a few of his haters that are actually Cowboys fans that hopped on Dak thread after thread and post after post claiming that "GOOD quarterbacks are able to lead their team to more than 3 points, there is absolutely no excuse for that".

- Brady, who is a great quarterback was held to 3 points by a horrible, rebuilding team, who traded their best player and already gave up on the season and who's ran by a interim head coach . Now the same Dak haters barely responded and conveniently failed to touch on this topic AND one of those people today said "yeah it happens, no big deal". But they made it a big deal when it happened to Dak.

2. We all supported Rush for the solid job he's done in Daks absence. Rush was solid but limited, and thats ok!! In victory, Rush would pass for 100 yards and he would hailed, celebrated, then we saw a thousand threads crappin on Dak's name like Dak was some 3rd string backup.

- Dak comes in to play his 2nd game in 9 months after missing a month due to to hand injury and plays a solid game, making throws Rush isn't capable of making, starts of with expected rust in his game and finishes solid with over 200 yards. Then you had those same Dak haters saying "he didn't play well".... "he played a bad Lions team", etc. But those same Lions came into 3 points of beating the (6-0) Eagles, came into 4 points of beating the (5-1) Vikings, and came into 3 points of beating the (4-3) Seahawks. DAK came in and led us to an 18 point victory over the Lions, but they conveniently leave that part out too.

3. Dak owns the NFCE. Dak gets criticized for his AND the Cowboys success for beating NFCE teams as if thats the only reason he's a good quarterback. Rush came in and did a solid performances against the Giants and Commanders, the same thing Dak would have done if healthy.

- Rodgers loss to the Giants and Commanders and not a peep.

All in all... these are just a couple examples and I can go on and on. Cooper Rush really won me over and I feel very confident if Dak ever goes down again....

But for those same haters that gave Rush credit for less production in a win.... then Dak comes in and win with more production and they say he didn't play well.... its truly hilarious.

Lastly, there were Cowboys fans aka (Dak haters) that were angry that Dak led the Cowboys to a win yesterday. Picture that!!

That’s simply not true. Lol. Just because Dak can’t see them doesn’t make them any less open.

Why isn't it not true? We had that same problem with Rush as well, not just Dak. Just watch the Eagles game and see how tight the coverage was with our receivers. It was not only the Eagles game, but all of the games these years.

Our wide receivers were much more open last year then this year. This was because Cooper commanded double teaming and it allowed the other receivers like Lamb and Wilson one on one.

Maybe. You can call it speculation if you like. I’d say it’s more of an opinion.

But I am willing to bet that there are probably more people that think along these lines than either the pro-Dak or anti-Dak hordes at the present time.

Truth be told......there are many on here that don't like our QB. It's that simple......now the question would be.....Why? Our hero, TRomo was a highlight film.....good or bad, and let us down numerous times in the postseason......but he gets keys to the city.....with no more than a wedding band on his finger.

Troy Aikman won 70% of his RS games this very way..those are actual FACTS..
go look at QB play week 7 most of the winning qbs had these stats the ones with gaudy stats, all lost..

Let’s get this out of the way first:

1. I’m pro Dak
2. He is better than Rush
3. I’m not suggesting Rush should start over Dak
4. I hope we win a super bowl with Dak.

Having said that it’s time that people started being realistic about our QB situation:

1. Dak starts off horribly slow.
2. Dak killed several drives today that were totally ON DAK.
3. He’s not a top 10 QB.
4. He struggled with the 32nd ranked defense.
5. Something is wrong with Dak in terms of seeing/processing the field.
6. Dak’s accuracy is very suspect. I’d say Dak is in the bottom 1/3 of the league in that category.
7. Dak doesn’t elevate the team. Dak doesn’t elevate the team.
8. The WRs are getting plenty open, Dak just doesn’t see them.
9. If they don’t run Dak 3-4 times per game —Dak is going to have a much harder time winning. He needs that threat to keep defenses more honest.
10. The only way Dak wins a SB is if the team Carrie’s him. He is nothing more than a middling bus driver right now.
11. I would love to see Dak develop and become the next Tom Brady, but I don’t think Dak has the football IQ to get it done.
12. Dak has the physical traits but he doesn’t have the mind to get it done as of right now.
13. I like Dak and I like Zeke as a Cowboys fan, but those two together are a handicap to overcome.

Last seasons defense was gouged in the run...any "Romo vs Dak" discussion that ends in one being percieved better than the other is not factually provable. Again your personal opinion of Romo is better than that of Daks but nothing done by either QB can seperate one from the other so far.
