Dak had Beasley or Dez for 6 with 40 seconds to go!

That is open.. Tons of space in front of him..

But..

These are pics..

You really need to see a video to really know what happened on the play. I trust theebs though.

Exactly, when you watch the video, you see exactly why. Free lost this game for us with his horrible pass protection.

He really did. He was awful. I would hate to be him in film review. OL spent a ton of time on the ground in the run game too. I am guessing PFF will not have us with the best OL this week.

I hope they respond (as a group) positively this week. It's scary to think that the "strength" of this team is becoming a liability. I expected a much better effort from the entire group than we got this past week. Disappointing, to say the least.

I expect a bounce back. Washington's D line doesn't present the problems that the Giants does in the run game. Olivier Vernon didn't really make an impression as a pass rusher to be honest but he was very solid against the run.

I have gone over every offensive play. Dak did a very respectable job. He consistently found the open man when given any time at all. I suspect they are only having him read one side of the field. I did think there were times we could have checked into runs. Everytime we were in a running formation, we ran the ball. That is a huge tell. And the Giants played it accordingly. There was room for some running. Could have had Dak run a few times, more bootlegs. There were a few passes when he had guys open early where there could have been big gains. Just a learning process for him. I can't tell you how much I lhiked what Spagnuolo was doing with his defense. Yes, he pass rushed a lot with the down 4 but he also ran some nice zone blitzes and corner blitzes that were disguised very well. Would love to see us doing some of that with Scandrick. One play they stacked the left side of the OL, on snap dropped them back into zone and overloaded the right side with a LB and DB. We had no choice but throw quick pass on long yardage down. We never seem to get pressure like that. We drop into a 3 man rush, let them dump it off or run a draw that gets the first or very close to it.

How about Beasley catches that ball at the 5 and goes in or we score on any one of the other 2 red zone trips and we aren't even having this conversation. Playcalling in the redzone sucks!
So Beasley dropping a sure fire TD is because of bad play calling?

Do you think you put the proper amount of thought into that post?

Wish there was better news to report. All the OL were off from their best especially in run blocking. Martin, Frederick and Tyron were solid in pass protection. Tyron missed a few blocks that he normally wouldn't in the run game. Witten was horrible on blocks, didn't sustain one all day I don't think. I would like to see more runs with a fullback.

Yep. You and me both. Emmitt would agree, also. Without Moose he doesn't sniff the all time rushing record. It's odd that Garrett has let that evade him considering he watched it from the best seat in the house for years.

Watching all the Beasley's catches on All22, I'm convinced the game plan for Dak was to give him two may three reads per play. TWill doesn't even turn to look at the QB on some of the plays. And one one play, he runs a go route and then starts to block the DB without turning his head around to the QB.

It looks like when he sees the other DBs react to Beasley's catch, he tries to get in the way of the DB in front of him immediately without looking back to the LOS. That tells me, he knew where the ball was going to go pre-snap and alsos knew he wasn't going to get the ball.

This somewhat validates what me and others were saying about Dez being the first read and Bease or Witt being the second read. My guess the game plan was to give him two reads even though he had 3 or more receivers out running routes. So if Twill and Witt were the two reads for a play, Dak wasn't looking at any other receivers to throw the ball. Even if they were open.

I think we'll be seeing a lot of threads like this for the first half of the year.

Dak's a rookie 4th rounder. It would be nice if he was an all-pro right off the bat, but I'll settle for him driving the bus and not turning the ball over

I just watched the first series on coaches film.

If you want to chart missed opportunities there were three on that drive. Not blaming Dak because we don't know his read progression for sure and what his coaches have told him to do.

1-10-20> Shotgun, 12 personnel, Zeke split wide left and motions into backfield. Witt strong left. Dez, Beas and Williams split rt. Witten drags to right, Dez angles to middle, Beaz straight up field and Williams an out. As Dak throws, all but Dez are clearly open...Beasley likely would have been TD, Williams a gain to about 7...Dak takes safe throw to Witten.

1-10-10> Shotgun, 11 personnel, Witt strong rt. Dez l slot, Beas and Williams left. Dez straight up seam....immediately open. Beasley drags behind him. High throw that Beas drops. Would have walked in. Dez would have walked in. DRC was lined up over Dez in slot and blitzed. As Dak set to throw DRC jumped, possibly blocking view of both Dez and Beas and making inaccurate throw. Beas has to catch this though. With two guys wide open, huge miss.

3-7-7> Shotgun, 11 personnel, Witt Strong L. Dez single rt. Williams l slot, Beas wide L. Dak checks down to Elliott crossing for short gain. When he threw, no one was open but no pressure. Could have held as Dez was just breaking open across end line. Another missed opportunity.

There are options on almost every play but it's hard to say exactly if Dak made the wrong play. In general, he was throwing to an open receiver so it's tough to say he made a bad play.

Where do you guys get the coaches film and how much is it?

Well time to put the Williams and Dunbar blame to bed with this tidbit. For the Dak lovers I am not blaming him. I don't know how much more proof us fans need to see this is purely coaching. We have seen this D&D game plan with every QB outside of Romo. This just can't be a coincidence....I am sure someone talked about it on here yesterday do you think they are going to let Dez grab TWill and tell him you go take Norman..I'm not sure this vanilla offense is allowed this much leeway. Thanks Theebs

I think the Giants defensive line had a lot to do with it. JPP has, by all accounts, been a man on a mission leading up to this season. He is a year removed from his accident and wants to prove he's back to being the guy the Giants tried to sign to a big dollar contract - I actually think he's better now because he was resting on his laurels a bit prior to the accident and now he realizes how fleeting it all is. So Free getting abused by JPP is bad, but not as bad as it will look in a few weeks IMO. I think a lot of people are going to struggle with JPP. And the Giants added Vernon and Snacks. They have as much if not more invested in their DL as we do our OL.

Our OL will crush Washington. I expect our OL will be better the second time against the Giants. I think people forget (even our own guys) that the other guys are getting paid too - and some of them are really freaking good. I think our OL got a nice reminder of that on Sunday.

NFL Game Pass from NFL.com has all 22. It's $99 for a season, you get game replays (no live games), all 22 footage and condensed games.

That's fair. I never criticized his performance. I just said he looked like a rookie and his limitations, at least right now, are why they lost the game.

I think that's fair, to be honest. I said it earlier in the week before the game. The defense was going to put us in a hole and Dak wasn't going to have enough "Romo" in him to pull it out. That's not a knock on Dak. Just an illustration of what he is. A 4th round rookie QB. It's also an illustration of how good Romo actually is (provided he's actually healthy).

Excellent post. I didn't watch the film but came away after the game feeling the same way. Dak looked great out there. I felt the coaching once again let the team down. I feel bad for a lot ot these players because they don't even realize the coaching staff is letting them down. You're only as strong as your weakest link and the weakest link here besides Jerry is the coaching staff.
