Yeah for sure. Romo was also directly responsible for his share of losses lol. Just talking a numbers perspective. They have vastly different games but fairly similar impact

Early in Romo's career I would say that's true. Romo was a lot of fun to watch, but he could be reckless, and he made some big mistakes late in games and late in the season that hurt the team's playoff chances. Romo got much better with that over time.

don't fault Dak. The position he plays is vastly different than say, RB. He should push for a ton of money...as much is given, much will be expected. This is a good sign. The player has high goals on the field. I am glad he's not settling. Scam? lol...wow...NEXT.

I watched part of the video but I don't need to see it because I watched every game. I don't need a video to tell me he's not garbage like some people claim.

These flashbacks are what keeps me occupied until the regular season starts.

A real true dirt bag for this move.

How is the real dirt bag Zeke for not showing up in the playoffs when we needed him most vs the Rams? And now won't report to camp with 2 years left on his deal. I'm guessing you won't start a thread on him.

Have you ever looked at it like we’ve scammed him the last 3 years? He’s the 68th paid qb in league and made playoffs 2 out of 3 years. He barely makes more than number 69 paid qb which is mike white

This revisionist history your spinning is cute, but Romo was an interception machine in his early years.

I am not going to comment on Dak or Romo being better than each other or whatnot, because I root(ed) for and like both of them, but his "revisionist" history about the defenses is more correct than you give him credit for. During the last three years ('16 - '18) the defense was ranked 7th, 8th and 14th. From 2006 through 2008 they were ranked 20th, 15th, and 20th.

In Romo's whole career they only had a top 15 defense twice (and top 10 only once). In Dak's first three years they have been top 15 all of them and top 10 twice. I will admittedly say I am not sure how many last minute losses those defense gave up, but I remember quite a few. I use to hate when the team gave the opponent the ball back with less than a touchdown lead and 2 minutes left, was almost always a recipe for disaster (and would have been for Dak too had he been the QB during that time).

Not really trying to prop Romo up or discredit Dak, just saying those defenses use to fold at almost any opportunity.

True though that Romo threw many more interceptions (don't want to make it appear I am arguing that point).

Back to the topic of the thread. I have no problems with him asking for whatever he asks for. Have to start somewhere. Lets see what he signs for before we get all up in arms.

I know it's not a QB, but where is that Julius Jones video years and years ago where everyone on this board was raving about him being the next coming? Yea,
Romo had the dynamic duo of Terry Glenn and a still at the height of his game TO. Not taking anything away from him here but he wasn't still developing with a committee at WR.

As to your second point I think the jury is still out there. At least for me it is. We've seen him comeback from being down to win games. He almost put together a nice one against the Pack and he kept us in the game against the Rams. But those were playoff games and we're still waiting for a defense to actually show up there regardless of who the quarterback is.
I thought Terry Glenn was hurt a lot of the year. In addition, Dak has an All Pro and arguably the best RB in the NFL in Zeke. Romo also helped a lot of receivers put up some good numbers that didnt do much after they left... Laurent Robinson, Patrick Crayton, Miles Austin, Terrence Williams, etc.

Did you see Dak's 4th quarter come back video I posted in response to your "cant carry the team on his back" remark, or does that fly in the face of your narrative?
In Dak’s time in Dallas , there are many games that should have been blowouts, but Dak’s play allowed the other team to keep it close. The Saint’s game from last season is one example of many games that was closer than it should have been. A lot of Dak’s 4th quarter comebacks should not have been that close at all if Dak would have played better and put TDs on the board instead FGs. I have said repeatedly that there are many average QBs in this league that could play as well as Dak , if not better , than Dak has played if they was surrounded by the talent in Dallas.

Dak is the starting QB for America's most visible football franchise, and has had decent success.

Yet he isn't even in the top 50 (maybe even top 60) highest paid QB's currently. Shame on him for wanting his money.
Yeah he will get paid, but to be fair I believe the OP is talking about highest pay

At what point does the fan base start to question these assertions the press states as fact.

I may be wrong. Any number of people here will tell you this, But has anyone heard an interview where Dak has stated he wants to be the highest paid player in the league?

Or was this his agent?

Or a journalist trying to scoop the 28000 others by making this up?

The press has been suspect before, but let's face it. Journalism and truth have now moved into a period where they are no longer kissing cousins. They are complete strangers.

Not tossing rocks at you Frozen. But surely Dak and the entire football world that does not include Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder sees his leadership, and desire to win, and occasionally him dropping a ball and missing the ground.

wentz didn't. brady didn't. brees didn't. cousins didn't.
First of all, we don't know what they asked.

But Brees and Cousins both got market-setting contracts. Brees' 2013 extension was the most money guaranteed at signing in NFL history, if I'm not mistaken. Then Cousins' became the 2nd-most, behind Matt Ryan.

Brady is Brady (and his salary is absolutely supplemented by TB12's contract with the Pats), and Wentz' cap hit of $32m over the extension would give him the third-highest AAV...I'd bet that his agents originally asked for $35 to be the highest paid.

If he asks for too much, let him walk and take your chances in the draft. This team has only drafted 2 QBs in the first round in its history. It can do it a third time.

He wants to be highest paid, based off what? He has issues with accuracy, can't carry a team on his back, and only has a high percentage throwing the ball because most of his throws are short range

Real fans don't need numbers to see he struggles with throwing a WR open ( if you have proof post a video of him doing it multiple times), throwing in tight windows, and deep/intermediate passes.

He knows this, he knows he's not that good. He knows this is his only chance to cash out, because he knows he might get exposed as not to good(like flacco), especially if Zeke doesn't play.

He's trying to scam us and strong arm us because really and truly I do agree with him, right now we have no better option. Doesn't make him a great option, just a convenient option. He knows Jerry can get desperate.

Let the guy play and show the world who he really is. If he balls out, I'll for sure rue. But I doubt he can put together a great season, and wow most of us.
If he knows all this you would think he would take the contract offered and run to the bank at a sprint! He's banking on himself to be able to do everything you said he couldn't. Frankly, I think he's a touch delusional but it is what it is! If it was me I'd pay Cooper and Zeke and franchise him with the option to negotiate with other teams. Let them set his value and take the pick it they want to pay some outlandish contract!

Yeah the worst paid player in the league is a scum bag for wanting the most money he can get. You must really be a sheep and a flunky if you don’t want to be paid the most you can. Must really be weakminded.

I love how being a fan of a player of ours is now a "stan" and trying to divide a fanbase. Seems like you guys have the agenda trying to be pushed.

But I'm sure you thought Dez was a plus for this team, though...
Stan
A crazed and or obsessed fan. The term comes from the song Stan by eminem. The term Stan is used to describe a fan who goes to great lengths to obsess over a celebrity.

This describes a majority of you. Obsessing and defending a SCRUB.

You go to lengths of insulting another person because they criticize said SCRUB

You get agitated, angry, upset, sad, and emotional because other’s dont blindly defend said SCRUB

How many playoff games did Pony throw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns? Certainly not in his first or third season. :muttley:

You're going to have to come up with a different stat, considering both "Pony" and Prescott play for the same owner. I imagine Dak is going to run into the same problems his predecessor did once he gets paid. Only difference is Romo could win games by himself and keep us afloat. Romo is just a better passer, qb. I hope Prescott can get there. He's not there yet, not even close.

I'm not sure why we have to rip one to enjoy the other.
