Bro the leverage is all in the language from the last contract and the structure of it. That hasn’t changed in 4 years

No trade
No franchise tag
Voided years etc
In terms of his last contract he got everything he wanted with JJ conceding even these non-owner friendly conditions. But IMO, he has little leverage at all as far as “betting on himself” and his play is concerned. He got the previous contract on his 2016 play and hope (like the current crop of young QBs have), because prior to his injury in 2020 he wasn’t playing that good. Granted, he’s played better after the fact in a mostly weak division with a pretty good TO defense around him, and even put up “runner-MVP” (as the stans like to repeat) numbers (against the worst total passing defenses in the league), but he’s played mediocre to not good in most of the playoffs where it matters, and that’s why the organization and he are where they are today.

He knows he will be paid only as much as one of the team owners is willing to pay him. He is fully aware of his situation. You’re “delusional”. He and his agent hammered Jerry last time they negotiated. If I were Jerry I’d steer clear of Prescott and France. Find another quarterback. Other teams do.
I mean he's delusional as to how much he sucks under pressure not how much he's going to be paid dummy.

Maybe then, as a true fan, get mad at Dak for wanting infinite money and screwing the team? Like if you feel we must have him (we don't to lose playoff games), shouldn't you be irate Dak's being selfish?
All these QBs are getting paid big and screwing their teams if you want to look at it that way. What has Trevor Lawrence done to deserve to be paid $55 million per season? He’s being paid right up there with Burrow. Tua signed for $53 million per season. They’re all screwing their teams. Everyone acts like Dak is the only one that wants to get paid big. He’s done more in this league than some of those QBs that have just gotten paid.

Don’t you believe Dak owes it to himsel, not “the brotherhood”, not the Dallas Cowboys, not Jerry Jones, not Cowboys’ ungrateful fans, but himself to sign a contract he is comfortable with? Why should he acquiesce to anyone’s wishes other than his own?
Shouldn’t he sign for what he thinks he’s worth? When his career is over the team and fans will move on to the next guy and only care what that next guy does. Dak Prescott will be a memory.

This is his time. If Jerry Jones doesn’t want to meet Dak’s demands that’s between Jerry and Dak. He’ll just have to go play elsewhere.

He didn’t have the leverage last year that he does now. The clock is ticking, and if he enters the regular season which is less than two weeks away without a new contract, he may play out the season and explore free agency. We’re almost certain to lose him if that happens. No one thought he wouldn’t have a new contract by now.
No one?????

Sounds like Dak is realizing that he may not get a free pass like he has before.
He's never produced when the pressure was on, but in the past he got away with it.
He may have to accept less money if he wants to continue to play. He hasn't earned being the top paid quarterback in the NFL.

That’s still not close to the leverage he has now. The Joneses are on the clock. They waited too long and in less than two weeks the regular season will start. The pressure is really on the Joneses to get something done before the season opener or he may play out the season and test free agency. No team allows their franchise QB to go this long without being extended, especially when they don’t have a viable option to replace them with. If Dak gets off to a good start this season he’ll have even more leverage. Teams are going to be licking their chops for him to be become available in free agency. I’ll promise you the Raiders will jump on him quick.
Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to foreshadow this happening

That has nothing to do w leverage. He has all of it. He’s always had all of it.

When fans “spend money, time and energy following their teams” it’s their choice. None of us have to. That includes you. “This isn’t communist China after all”.

(note—-communism is an economic system, not a form of government.)

Since many of us do follow the Cowboys, me for over 60 years, I can voice my opinion about the team. Nobody has to listen, although I sense many agree with me on the insanity of paying Dak anywhere near $60mil/year.

I think this is where the Cowboys are:

1) Win big this season & you'll get whatever you want from us if you wish to continue here.

2) Flame out again? Best wishes. We'll be happy to hold the door for you on the way out.
I honestly think he’s gone regardless of how the season plays out if he doesn’t get a contract before the season starts.
