Has Mahommes had comparable skill players in that time frame? Sure, he has Kelce, and had Hill...but Hill's been gone for a couple of years. His RB stable isn't much to write home about. His receivers are decent, not great. His line is solid. Remember, when Dak had average receivers, he struggled, and the team traded for Cooper. When he just had Lamb, he led the league in interceptions, and the team traded for Cooks.
Now think of that in terms of cap distribution. Yes, Mahommes does have a high APY salary, but he signed a 10 year deal to help his team move money around as necessary. He hasn't had a highly paid WR1, WR2, or RB1 eating up his team's cap space, which has allowed them to sign that big time DT, and distribute spending more evenly, less skewed towards offensive skill positions, resulting in a more balanced team. Dak's 4 year contract cut into that opportunity to move money around without the adverse effects that we see this offseason.
It isn't about who's more deserving. Clearly that would be Mahommes. It isn't that Dak sucks. He doesn't. He's a great QB, and if he leaves, I wish him the best. I just don't see how we will field a consistent, championship caliber team with Dak making 60m and Lamb bringing home 30+. The offense will do well, but the defense will regress, and we will continue to argue individual stats vs team accomplishments. If Dak want to do more, he will have to take less....I just don't see his representation allowing that to happen.
