No... he's not top 10. That's pure reputation and group think. Is he good? Yes even better than good but not top 10. He doesn't beat double teams or even create separation. He relies on out jumping people and coming down with the ball but he doesn't do that with any regularity even when he isn't injured.

He doesn't get the chance to beat double teams because this offense is dictated by the defense it's facing. The Cowboys offensive scheme doesn't place players in positions to succeed with any regularity until the game after an embarrassing loss or they're playing an inept defense.

Dez would put up megatron numbers in Detroit. He would catch 100 balls easy in Pittsburgh. He doesn't get a true opportunity to shine in Big D. Same as TO when he was here. Jason doesn't believe in force feeding his top players unless he gets lucky and sees that it works like 2014 with Demarco Murray. (That blowout in game 1 was the most important game in his tenure.)

Back to the point...

Dez is a beast and he most definitely gets the respect of other teams. He gets double teamed every flippin week and when he doesn't he gives you multiple TD games because that's what elite receivers do.

I have had just about enough of comments like this. Irvin played in a far different era than Dez. Coaching has changed dramatically scheme wise. Dez didnt get shut down in game 2 because why? he was MOVED around the field. Good coaching staffs put their guys in positions to succeed. Ask AB, or OBJ, or just about any WR in the top 5. Irvin was special, so is Dez, the difference is the GAME itself has changed. Stop comparing a guy that played 20 years ago plus to a guy that is playing in todays NFL. Id love to see Irvin in his prime up against the schemes, safeties, and corners that Dez deals with. Thats like comparing Tom Landry to Bill belichek. Both pioneers, but in different Eras.

Are you kidding me? You can't sneeze on a WR these days without a flag. In Irvin's day the CBs were MUGGING WRs. There's never been an easier time to be a WR in the NFL since it's inception. Your argument not only has holes in it, it doesn't have a pot to piss in to even HAVE holes. This is quite possibly the weakest, most ill-conceived argument I've ever heard on this board. And considering the miles if ******** logged on this site, that's saying something.

You cant sneeze on one? Have you seen our players get mugged repeatedly? Only have to look at the Butler play last game to see it happen and not get flagged. The rules have changed, but so has the game. That is literally my argument. If you want to sit there and tell me the game is played the same way as in the 90s you need help. All i was saying is not to compare players from different eras. That is all. For example, i can make a point that Dan Marino was better than Tony Romo. Would i? No. because they are completely different players in different times.

Which is why we see a subtle but real move to WRs like Antonio Brown, Stephon Diggs, and others who are in the 5'10" to 6" range and under 200 lbs but incredible route runners and equally fast in and out of their breaks.

It used to be that a WR had to be big and physical, however, the change where the NFL deciding to call nearly any contact on WRs a few years ago has really changed what an ideal WR is in the NFL these days.

It wouldn't matter to me if you DID compare Romo to Marino. Your assertion that Irvin would struggle in a game when the CBs aren't given even 30% of the liberty in roughing up a receiver that they did when Irvin played (and dominated) is due to either A). Youth (because you didn't actually watch football back then) or B). Stupidity because your argument is riddled with it.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say youth. If you out yourself from there, that's on you.

Hate to disagree, but Dez is not a top 10 WR. Top 20 maybe, but he's nowhere near 10.....
I never do this, but I just have to ask you to list your ten ahead of Dez.. Since He's "Nowhere near 10" should be easy... Go

It's actually a stupid quote. He doesn't pay attention to who he's throwing to. Maybe that's why he's overthrown Cole Beasley so many times this year or why Bryant was invisible in the opener. You can not treat him like every other receiver. He's open when he's not open. You have to know that as the quarterback and you have to feed your best weapon. Just like you have to know if your WR is a midget. Whether he has track speed. To just treat them all the same is foolish. I've never heard a QB say that.

Saying it won't affect the offense is just ridiculous. It'll affect the offense because it'll affect the way defenses defend you.

While I appreciate the confidence and the moral boost for the rest of the troops, this is the 2nd time now he's slighted our best skill player. I don't say that with any of the coddling it's popular to say Dez needs, but out of respect for a tremendous player who has done a lot for this franchise. There's other ways to keep positive and portray confidence, but #88 is a big part of the offense whether he's drawing the targets or not

QBs SHOULD pay attention to who they're throwing to.
Its very important to know your teammates strengths and weaknesses.

In any case, you gotta love the kid's confidence.

Of course it doesn't really affect Dak or the offense now. With Romo, this season would have already been shot. Since Dak is now here, this offense will not miss a beat this weekend.

As I mentioned in another post, you will see how completely wasted nearly $35 million dollars of cap space is when there is zero dropoff in offense production. Remember this post.

Now, if the Cowboys management is smart, they will take note of this and make appropriate moves this offseason to really man up the defense and continue building the OL. Will this happen though? Time will tell
4-0 with Romo.
Not sure what youre babbling about...yet again.

Why cant you be happy that we landed Dak and quit bashing an injured Pro Bowl player

Youve got to be ****** kidding me.
Some of you are just relentless with your vile
Its not vile.

Its reality.

Here we are again with Romo and Dez hurt and the only ray of sunshine is DAK and Zeke.

Its refreshing as our team is in trouble right out of the gate..

and DAK fights.

Nobody fought last year.

They rolled over and collected their millions and most of us became Texan fans.

At least for a year

So call out players on your team and fans who support them vile if you want.

I'm fan of the team for 45 years..

I will call it like I see it..

What was the first?
Generally not a good idea, I agree. Makes me wonder what Dez's locker room rep is.

I didn't take it as a slight to Dez (being a huge Dez supporter, myself), rather as an indication of his demeanor and the fact that he won't let the game get in his way, whether it be injuries, player availability, etc.

Dak is gonna roll with who he has available and has the utmost confidence in himself and the team, regardless of who is starting. He won't let a star player's potential injury discourage him, perhaps like many rook (or weak minded) QBs would.

And he loves Cole Beasley... and the offensive line :)

Yes I have.

I have tired of all the Romo love and just watch this franchise go backwards only to watch the franchise double down more to help him.

He has had his chance..moreso than Aikman..more than Danny White, more than Don Meredith.

Enough.
