If he faltered, you knew the replacement can play.
That's the thing. For me. Playing with house money.

Lost what I had typed up, but he threw an interception on 4th down with no time left when he needed a touchdown. That's way better than throwing a dump off that has no chance of getting in the end zone. One of his 2 playoff INTs was in the end zone against the Giants with the game on the line. He also has 5 fumbles in playoff games. He bobbled a hold in a playoff game against Seattle that cost us the game. He had something like 5 turnovers in two season finale elimination games that were like playoff games. It was almost like he was jinxed. By 2016 it was time to move on to another QB.
Romo would have never brought us back in the game. Anytime we got behind by two scores with him in the playoffs it led to a debacle. He would lose his poise and start throwing the ball up for grabs which would lead to multiple turnovers.

Really? All you have to ask is all the other organizations in the NFL, would they have played Dak or a healthy Romo in 2016, starting with BB. I’d wager 31 out of 32 teams would’ve said they would start Romo. It was never a question of Dak doing an admirable job subbing. It was how much better that team could’ve been with Romo. It was a dumb decision and will always be one, made by two of the more worse than average football minds on the planet.

Also remember that was the play after he threw a perfect game winning pass that his receiver choked on.
I also fail to see how Romo fumbling more than Dak because he has had much worse olines in the playoffs than Dak ever had is relevant to your statement.
This last part is very reminiscent of 2017 and 2019 Dak, yeah.
Anybody that thought it was the right decision at the time is foolish, anybody that still thinks it is the right decision is kind of a lost cause.
Fair enough, it's tough trying to argue for Dak and also look reasonable when you have to say things like Romo throws the ball up for grabs in the playoffs despite Dak throwing interceptions in the playoffs a lot more often than Romo. Not going to waste anymore time rehashing old history. I learned a long time ago that these Romo debates can be never ending. Lol
He led a TD drive his very first series in the game after coming back. The only TD we scored that game.Romo wasn’t going to be ready to play until several games into the season. The last time they rushed him back from an injury he re broke his collarbone. He had a compression fracture in his back and was beat up. He was at the end of his career. Once we got late into the season it made no sense for him to come back because Dak was playing outstanding football and we were winning games. Romo would’ve been very rusty not having played most of the season. We ended up winning a franchise record 11 straight games. No team makes a change at QB when they’re on that kind of a roll.

Prescott played pretty well but Romo would have played better - he exposes a horrific secondary with guys off the street from the first drive not from well into the 2nd quarter.Romo was broken down by then and hadn’t led us to a Super Bowl when he was healthier and had good teams around him.
It’s unlikely that Romo would have played better than Dak did in the playoffs in 2016.
If Dak had played poorly against GB it would be a different story, but he played well.
No excuses for Dak now though.
thing is the controversy will only be among fans and media, jerry..... lol he wants dak win or lose, play bad, stink it up, and he will keep dak in there !We should all be rooting for a “QB controversy” because that would mean Rush keeps playing well and we keep winning.
If we beat the Commanders and Rams with Rush, and if Dak lays an egg in Philly while losing (assuming he’s back by then), the QB controversy will be justified.
Big “ifs”.
Captains meeting about QB1 in 2016 after Romo got healthy....All of the coaches, owners, and players are defending Dak. In 2016, ownership was being very coy about the situation. I understand 13-3 is an impressive stat, but telling Romo that he can't even compete for the starting job is absolutely ridiculous.
This organization has actually done a good job at given Dak what he needs to be successful: great wrs, great rb, a good to great offensive line throughout most of his tenure and now a top level defense.
I do not believe Cooper Rush is a better quarterback than Dak Prescott. However, I think this coaching staff seems to manage the game better with Cooper at the helm. My hope is when Dak comes back, he sees how lucky he is that he still has that job because his opportunities are thinning out.

And Romo could've shattered his back again. Then we'd be back to Dak anyway. The angst about Dak for the Romo situation is ridiculous imo. 1. It's not Dak's fault, and 2. Who knows how long Romo even lasts. Oh, and 3. It's water under the bridge now.
I'm a Dak guy. Cooper is not a better talent than Dak but right now he is the better QB. Dak has not been the same guy since the ankle. A lack of confidence, indecisiveness which causes sacks as he holds the ball too long. He needs to start playing ball like he did his first 4 years. I would wager he is also trying too hard to play up to his contract. He needs to think less and ball more.
