Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo Set To Retire

That didn't take long.

Now comes the continued and grueling talk about what his real intentions are.

Not sure of any big free agent we need to clear cap space for, or any that's worth clearing cap space for to catch the ridicule from the usual suspects.ahem

I admire you guys who can live through cap hell while insisting it doesn't exist.

This will be Favre all over again.

There's been a connection between those two from the beginning.

From Albert Breer, who usually has his stories solid:

He’s talked privately about becoming the next Troy Aikman, which is where he’s headed now. He’s also discussed, down the line, the idea of becoming the next John Elway. And as John Lynch has shown us, in going from FOX analyst to 49ers general manager, Romo now very much has the opportunity to do both.

This changes nothing really. Dallas still holds his rights even with retirement. The TV thing gives him a guaranteed job in the event no team comes calling later.

Not if they're stupid enough to release him, sure hope they make him retire vs releasing him. The 19.6 cap hit won't change, its just a matter of how much it hits the cap this & next year, so keep his rights in the event something happens where a team needs him.

I would like to think he was not that kind of attention seeking floozy, but perhaps.

I think Tony could be a great GM.

I'll be curious to see Romo covering a Cowboys game and how he handles all of Prescott's poor decisions and interceptions.
Knowing Tony, he'll probably relate it to something he had done during his playing days.

Best decision for his quality of life going forward and his Wife's sanity going forward as well.

Best Wishes to him. He gave it his all, and his body has paid the price over the years.

IMO, he will never will be truly appreciated by a majority of the Cowboys fan base.
It's a really weird unlikeness of him...I find it's the casual fan that doesn't like him. Someone that says they're a huge Cowboys fan but they won't shut up about something when the games on. I get that vibe about a lot of folks on here

So just like Marshawn Lynch playing games on social media, we will get Romo?

Some QB gets hurt, a mysterious video shot in a darkened room with Bob Dylan playing in the background. Then the lights snap on. A single pair of cleats lay on a bare floor. Then, fade to black.

Glad to see it. I was all set to follow which every team ge went to.

Now I can focus completely on Cowboys.

I might even buy a Jaylon Jersey with money I save not purchasing new Romo jersey

Mike and Mike saying he will be released, which one is it, retire or release?

Ok this was funny......

I think Tony could be a great GM.
Dan Marino was not a great GM. Just because Elway has had success, it does not make Romo any more qualified.

Elway at least ran an Arena team to prove himself.

For a mid level pick Houston would have been an odds on favorite for the super bowl.
They would have grabbed the spotlight from Dallas for a couple of years and stuck it to jerry.
Now ? Well good luck fellas.
You just go back to being an after thought
Even an average Romo game they beat the Patriots last year. I kinda wanted hIim to go there so my noon Texan/jaguar games would be compelling, but they don't deserve him

In the immortal words of Bob Hope, "Thanks for the memories."

Just an average play from Romo and we would have beat Packers
