Could have been a great off season if we could have got Dez signed long term before it is too late.

Not saying it is too late now, but the flexibility isn't there if we wanted to do a lot on Tuesday.

I wouldn't be surprised if they restructured the guaranteed portion of Romo's contract ($7.5 million this year) as a last-ditch effort after being unable to sign Dez long term. It's not ideal, but it's their only good option at this point and they were going to pay it anyway. It's not like they need to eat the money for negotiating leverage next year like they did with Brandon Carr's 2014 salary.

Romo has 15m of his 17m salary for 2015 guaranteed come Tuesday. They need to restructure the whole amount. They will need it and they won't be able to get it after the season starts. They can always roll over any unused cap space.

Spotrac had us at 3.3m under before the tyron restructure and Free and Rivers signing.

It's hard to keep up to the minute when the deals start flying, but they also tendered Dunbar and CJones for another 3m. They were right around 0 space before getting the 8m from TSmith.

Hey man, some of you guys just don't listen to Jerry and Stephen.
They don't want or need to redo Romo because they are not going to get into bidding wars
over FA. They've said this 4 or 5 times and this is how they have been operating since
the Carr deal. They are looking at Vet min deals for 1 to 2 years only. No big names
are coming so quit fixating on Hardy or McCourty or whomever wants boogoo bucks.
Some of these teams have 40-60mil of cap space and Dallas is trying to fill needs
from the cheap seats. Take a breath, relax, have a cold one and in the second
week of FA you might hear a name like Adrian Clayborn.

That was accounted for in spotrac. I'm guessing the Free contract breakdown is unknown at the moment. Rivers is league minimum so that shouldn't be too much of a difference.

So I think we are at about 8m in cap space atm.

You can keep repeating your schtik, but it doesn't make you any more right or wrong. You make enough predictions some of them will end up coming true.

Ah, you're right. I missed the part where the other half of his base salary becomes fully guaranteed on the 3rd day of the league year.

Are you sure? Over the Cap only has half of that being guaranteed.

The second 7.5m is supposed to guarantee on Friday. That would finish of all guaranteed monies owed to Romo at a total of 55m.

Romo signed a 6 year contract extension with the Cowboys on March 31, 2013. The contract is worth $108,000,000 and contains a $25,000,000 signing bonus. Romo’s 2013 and 2014 base salaries were fully guaranteed upon signing. $15 million of his 2015 salary is guaranteed for injury only with $7.5 million becoming fully guaranteed on the 3rd day of the 2014 League Year. Another $7.5 million becomes fully guaranteed on the 3rd day of the 2015 League Year. If Romo fails to participate in 90% of the offseason workout program his salary will de-escalate by $500,000.

If Cowboys want to sign Bryant long term, Romo and/or Carr will have to be restructured. Not to late to rethink it.

Any Bryant deal would most likely be a cap savings this year compared to the franchise tag number .. They don't need anymore money to complete in fact in all reality they will gain cap space this year with a long term deal for Dez

A direct is shown, and there are a resigning of Leary and Free. That seems to be what continues...

And We'll be complaining come September when the pass rush looks exactly like it did in 2014.

Yea, it was pretty bad but guess what, we still went 12x4, made the playoffs and were a couple of plays from going for the marbles.
This team is about offensive line, running the ball, keeping the defense off the field and making turnovers.
Marinelli will have whatever he's got fire breathing this year so sit back and enjoy the ride!!!

Yeah that was my belief as well. No way a long term contract eats up 12+ million of cap space in the first year.
