Dallas to host Alfred Morris on Monday

Alfred Morris was great his first couple seasons. The Commanders fell apart around him and no rb on thier roster was worth a damn this year. Can't put that all on Morris. I'd love the signing. My biggest concern is his receiving ability. I'm not certain what the issue was there though. But if he can at least keep defenses honest with the dump offs he could be gold in Dallas.

The question is- what's he got left?
I watched closely last year as the rookie Matt Jones was unable to steal the job away, even though they basically gave Morris the undeserved shaft in favor of Jones. Morris still performed pretty well in some opportunities. He's a solid back. Aging, but definitely worth a serious look.

What's the use of having an all pro OL and a mediocre RB. Why not get a RB with power, vision and speed. Oh yeah, that makes to much sense.... I don't want a 1000 yard back I want a 1500 yard all pro future HOFer back, Zeke might not be a HOFer but he gives us hope, more than what McFadden gives us.

I understand what you're saying but I Think the Cowboys want to use those same resources on actual holes that are filled by bad players. McFadden regardless of how we all feel about him was a top 10 back last season.....there are some players on this team that should be backups but are forced to be starters. I think to them that makes more sense to upgrade.

I'm not sure though. For all I know they may draft Elliot. I feel like he's a starter we can plug in right now and it will help both sides of the ball.

Dallas worked out virtually every running back last draft. I have no doubt that they would've taken a running back if Gregory didn't fall to us in the second. I think Tevin Coleman, Duke Johnson, David Johnson or even TJ Yeldon fell to us in the appropriate round.

We did have interest in trading for Demarco Murray, bringing in Forte, Miller or even AP last year. The interest is there but we are just stubborn in what we will give up or pay for a RB.

And what happens when someone like a Spence falls to us in the 2nd round which very well may happen? You pass up the best pass rusher in the draft for Henry?

I can't remember the last time we played the Commanders and I even cared when Alfred Morris was handed the ball.
With us showing interest in Forte, Murray and now Morris it looks like we are only interested in a boring big body stiff back without explosion or big play potential. We've had several on our roster since Demarco left.

I can remember him punishing us a few times. He hit us for 200 and 3 tds one game and has been damn good I'd say about 6 out of the 8 times we played them so maybe you should've cared.

After Morris's agent saw Dunbar get a contract for 1.75 M, he quickly called Jerry and Stephen to schedule a visit. If Morris is willing to accept a 1 yr contract for under 1 M then I would sign him in a heartbeat. Cheap and proven depth is hard to find. He is also only 27.

Drafting anyone in the top 5 is gonna cost, good thing it's not going to cost us top 5 money like it use to cost, therefore let's stop talking about money and cost. I guarantee any one of you guys here that if Minnesota had offer Adrian Peterson to us last year for a 2nd round pick, Jerry would have jumped on that trade in a heartbeat along with his 10+ million $ salary a year and we all would have been happy.

It's the fact that Elliott is simply not a top 5 prospect. He's not the next Adrian Peterson, he's a good prospect that is rated higher due to this being weak at the top of the draft.

And yeah, a lot of people were wanting Peterson, go check out the trainwreck Peterson thread from last year. Some wanting to give up a FIRST ROUND pick, I was not one of them. No way in hell do I give up a first or second rounder for a 30 year old RB.

And again, the issue here is giving $10 million to an RB when you can get an RB for half the price or even less who will give you similar or near similar production later in the draft or in FA.

Well....we still don't know if the team will draft a RB. We all hope so, but who knows. I'd much rather add a proven player like Morris than fishing amongst the Turbins, Michaels and whatever random unproven RBs that are typically available in September.

You continue to say this. Outside of the read option: 1,074 yards, 8 TDs, 4.1 YPC

The offensive line in Washington for 2015, when it came to run blocking, was absolutely terrible and that is known.

The draft is based on needs not BPA. To prove my theory correctly if Goff or Weintz fell down to the Panthers would they draft him in the first round. They would be BPA. NO!!!!.... The draft has always been about need just don't reach to far...

No I don't think we do. Alfred Morris probably puts us in the same position we were in last season in regards to the draft. We will let the board come to us in regards to a running back, we will likely pass on Zeke in the first but we may take Henry or another back if we like them in the appropriate round. We may make sure we get a body in here in later rounds unlike last year but I see a similar setup taking place.

I have yet to see anyone think Browns will take Zeke, the opinion of scouts is if they don't go for a QB, they will look at Ramsey. But it's the Cleveland Browns, they took an RB in the first in 2012, how did that go for them?

You need to look at the number of carries in some of those games...maybe you consider 80 yards and 3.7 ypc as "pretty dang good".
I see 3 games where I would say he was "pretty dang good". And 2 of those came in 2012 from RG3 running the read option and catching us flat footed and looking foolish.

I see the running game as much more than a stat line...any back can get 60 yards per game and point to his 1000 yard season...I see the value in a RB for what he does to the defense when he is in the game. How much the defense needs to account for trying to stop him. I just don't see Alfred Morris as being a guy who strikes fear in many defensive coordinators around the league...

So, the 'Boys run D must have been HORRIFIC the last game of the season when he went for 100 on 19 carries. Like McFadden before him, he would be successful behind this line..............be the hammer in short-yardage situations....................
