For all the bashing of Quinn because of how it ended this year in January, I expect the Commanders (or whatever new name they pick) to be a better rival in the NFC East than they ever were under Dan Snyder. The only decent team he had was in 2012 with RGIII as a rookie, and Snyder blew that up by firing Mike Shanahan after only 2 seasons. The guy that most reminds me of Snyder is the new idiot owner of the Panthers.

The new owners in Washington brought in sports executives with experience building a championship team - albeit in basketball, not football. But they understand the type of leadership they need in place (the non X’s & O’s stuff) to be successful. They’ve gone out and hired one of the top rising GM prospects in the league. He was part of the decision making process of bringing in the new Head Coach.

Quinn has proven he can take a team to the Super Bowl. People want to credit his assistants, but he picked his assistant coaches. Jimmy Johnson gets credit for picking Norv Turner, after the disaster of Dave Shula as OC - even though Johnson also picked Dave Shula.

I have confidence that Dan Quinn and the new GM in Washington will pick good assistant coaches. Luke Jimmy Johnson, they may not get it all correct in their first iteration, but they will keep after it.

As for Dan Quinn not being the first choice, remember that Norv Turner was the 3rd choice back in 1991. You don’t have to be the first choice in order to be successful.

Bottom line is I believe Dan Quinn, in conjunction with their new GM and Ownership team in Washington will be a vast improvement over the Dan Snyder regime. That’s not necessarily good news for the Cowboys. But it is foolish to assume that Washington will continue to be the Dumpster fire they have been for the last 30 years.

I will say it again, for the reason u just stated, we can't rule out JJ firing Mike afterall. The landscape has changed drastically with Quinn leaving and taking like half our staff with him. That may be enough to sway Jerry into changing his mindset.
My wet dream is he fires Mike and has BB come in as HC/some form of GM under Jerry (I dunno lol). Who knows.. we still have old conservative, path of least resistance Jerry, but maybe the old wildcat will show itself.

Anyone worried MM upped DQ's "analytics" game while he was here? :p

Not until we've found a top notch DC ..

Recall when we went from Marinelli to Mike Nolan ...and that's what quickly sprung the desperate need for Quinn.
Jimmy Johnson’s offense stunk up the NFL in 1989 & 1990 under Dave Shula. Johnson replaced him. In the same way, McCarthy dumped Nolan after only a year. Give him credit for that, in the same way you give Johnson the credit for dumping Shula.

Also, the Cowboys didn’t get their 1st or even 2nd choice candidate to replace Shula in 1991. Norv Turner was widely reported to be their 3rd choice. It doesn’t matter if the Cowboys don’t get their first choice to replace Quinn. It only matters if he can do as good or better of a job than Quinn, and help the defense get better. Don’t get caught up in names. Make performance the criteria.

That stench was coming directly from Dan Snyder who isn’t there anymore. Not saying it will be a quick turnaround, but DC definitely has a MUCHER better shot at winning with new ownership.

He can only take a defensive coordinator with him. Everyone else is under contract.

Well defense will have to be completely redone now. Worst way for a coach to get a job is when it's within the division

Couldn't agree more with this. Not only that but they have the No. 2 pick, two 2nd rd & 3 round picks, and like 70 mil in cap space. That team could look drastically different next year with the right additions.
