Defense 11th overall

my ONLY point to everyone is ..... when during the offseason / preseason did you think the Defense would be in the top 10 ???.. I just never would've guessed that even if only after TWO games ..... guess that means I'm just not as smart as y'all are .....

Defense doesn't have the horses up front to be top ten, but it's good enough as long as McClain holds up to be top half of the league which is a huge improvement.

No but I have been firm in my belief that this defense would be much improved over last years defense. That view did not seem too popular. lol I don't know if when all is said and done Dallas will be a top 10 defense I still feel this will be a much better defense than the disaster we saw last year.

Well not all the horses are at the ranch. Dallas will be getting Lawrence and Spencer back and we got some guys who are still trying to get their game legs under them like Melton who will like see his snaps continue to rise as the season moves forward. Not to mention some of those horses are no more than Colts with Coleman and Bishop who are developing

Two games out of 16, hell 0 games out of 16 we had the worst defense in the league according to everybody.. Give me a break. It is a positive and if it stays that way it will remain a positive.

Sort of. We gave ups 450 yards to Eli in the first game. That trend continue throughout the season.

dallas played one good team one bad team. so therefore we are 1-1 and the stats are not fully being pulled along to show the real story yet. ITs early. Wait til dallas has played 3 good teams and see where the stats are. Stats against bad teams is useless and leads many to inflate talent that is just not there.

If the Titans are a "bad team" than so are the Cowboys. So they've played 2 teams that are either better than them or just as good as them.

I believe that the rushing numbers and the time of possession are both playing a part. If you keep the other time off of the field your numbers will look better overall. I think this team will be better, but I also think this team need better tackle play on defense and better secondary play. Rome wasn't built in a day though. I'm hoping this team will be in the middle if we can't keep teams off of the field. I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I agree with you. The run game benefits not only the offense and Romo but the defense as well.

The defense has been pleasantly surprising given what we were expecting. A big part of the reason why I think we win 5-6 of our next 8 games.

They decide who wins the horse race at the end of the race and not at some point when one of the non favored is in the lead early.

9ers take the second half off and Locker takes the first half off.

I can put a pair of size 20 shoes on my feet and at a distance they will look like they fit. But there is a lot of air inside, just like this unimportant stat.

Still too early to say much about our defense. It played okay against a solid San Francisco bunch. Probably not good enough in that game honestly. Though the turnovers were the reason for the loss. I don't think Tennessee is that good on offense. The Rams next week should really make our defense look good because they suck on offense. They don't have a QB right now. Run game isn't good enough to carry that team. The 3 games against the Saints, Seahawks, and Commanders should be interesting. I guess you can't sleep on Eli Manning either if he gets hot. But the Giants just don't have the receivers right now. Losing RG3 may be the best thing for the Commanders because they have a QB that can really beat other teams from the pocket now.

Church is not that bad. He is better than folks think.

I like Church, it's Wilcox I am really not high on. I think he is the weak link in our secondary.

I've been coming to this site since 2007 and have been a lift long Dallas "America's Team" Cowboys fan .....I know I don't really post a lot but like to read others ideas and opinions about my Cowboys ..... with that said ..... I've learned one thing ..... no matter what ..... if it's ever a positive about the Cowboys it's ..... to early ..... to soon ..... or just not good enough ..... makes me wonder and can only guess when the Cowboys win their next Super Bowl what will be wrong ..... not by enough points ..... to long since the last one ..... when's the next one going to be .....

Exactly. If it were the opposite and we were the 28th defense, people would be screaming, but now that these guys are looking better than expected, it's "well, let's wait and see." Nobody is really expecting this to be an elite defense, but they are playing better than expected and hopefully that trend continues.

This is what I expected to start the season. Unlike last year, I believe that this figure (points allowed) will drop as the season progresses. Young guys will get better and players overall will get comfortable with the scheme. The return of Spencer and Lawrence can only help as well.

It is so early to know much, but what I find concerning is two of the three teams we have faced had their best offensive output in their games against us.
