I suspect he starts out of respect. But he shouldn’t be getting many snaps unless it’s short yardage or you need the blocking help. Vaughn isn’t the guy you want in blocking a blitz but he is the most dynamic runner we have and can be a weapon gif you get him the ball in space
Vaughn is obviously good in space but to me he’s at his best running between the tackles and finding space where most can’t.

Hes great at hiding behind blockers and appearing out of nowhere.

It’s incredibly obvious.

Anyone else on this roster should just be a player who spells him or brings a little more power during certain situations but he’s far and away our most talented runner and it’s not even close.

They can play all these stupid games with old Zeke and Dowdle but Vaughn is better than all of them and it’s obvious.

Drop the country club BS and play Vaughn.
Zeke can block. Dak is going to need that with 2 rookies on the OL. In reality, we don't have an rb1 who could start for another team in the NFL. Heck, the texans have 4 rbs better than any of ours. What we have is a collection of 3rd stringers.

Zeke does nothing special and shouldn’t even be on this team. Its a joke really.

Freeman and Luepke can do everything Zeke can.

I think DV gets cut.

He’s at least 5th on the chart.

He does have PR skills. Watched him catching in camp.

But PS is an option.
Jerry’s already stated Deuce has made the 53 but to think he’s going to be the RB1 is lunacy.

Dallas has a pretty terrible RB group. Maybe the worst in the NFL. Deuce being as good as the others really isn't saying much.

That said:
- I see comments about how he played last year. His numbers were terrible but I suggest that people go look at the plays. He got the "hey, let's leave a D linemen unblocked" run play called for him multiple times. Everyone struggles when they get hit as they receive the handoff.
- He isn't a good blocker but its not like he is a complete zero. He can chip and cut. He is a good receiver. Its not like he is useless on passing downs.

Overall the problem is Zeke. Dude shouldn't be on the team. The RB group should be Dowdle, Freeman and Deuce. Which admittedly sucks but not as much as a group with Zeke.

Maybe he IS rb1.

All that means is that our RB1 sucks, and is the worst RB1 in the league, by a wide margin.

He is small, by actual definition and you know this. And you make it sound like Emmitt was average sized. He wasnt either. He was on the smaller size.
Duece is the smallest player in the NFL.
He is a wasted roster spot. He cant play special teams. He cant block. He has zero catch radius. He is no different than last year with the exception of he doesnt dance around as much.
And same as last year, he doesnt even play until the second half of PRE SEASON games. Has a couple nice plays against scrubs. And bam, now he should be RB1. Step on up Barry Sanders.
He was so good and had so much potential that they were trying him out at WR. Well guess what, he doesnt belong there either. He doesnt belong in the NFL period.
Maybe, just maybe if you needed a return guy you could give him a chance. But they dont even put him out there to start pre season games.
Roster spots are important. Depth is important. Having a small gadget guy that gives you nothing is not important and is really comical at this point to even be talking about honestly.
There is so much assumption, unevidenced claims, and inaccurate info in this post, I'm not sure where to start.

Best all-around back on the roster is Rico Dowdle. The thing is he's never been able to stay healthy enough so nobody knows how he can handle a starter's workload.

If this team is smart enough to split the majority of the reps between Dowdle and Vaughn and use Zeke sparingly, they can recreate Pollard's 2023 production and then some.

Exactly, Rico is the best of the group and it's not even close.
