Teams in this league are carried by coaching and QB play. Not running backs and receivers.

Yeah if you have a guy like Brady, or Wilson. With their skills.

I don't think Romo is good enough to get through 16 games with Average-Bum *** WR's. Which is what we have behind Dez.

Wilson is no where close to Tom Brady or even Tony Romo. The Patriots don't get near the Super Bowl with Wilson at QB. He looked very average when I watched him play. Romo was lights out better.

Dez can holdout and it not cost him a thing actually. Once a player signs the franchise tag tender, the one year salary becomes fully guaranteed. Dez will have until game 10 to sign to receive every dime of the $13mil.

Can't the team fine him game checks for missing games?

This is the internet...you post something it becomes everybody's business. Thinking the opposite is what gets people into trouble.

I will respect your wish though and butt out.

Thanks. I get where you're coming from. Keep in mind he took a shot at everyone on this board and I responded. I'm not the one disrespecting the interwebz

I wish jerry or Stephen would come out and say well if Dez is gonna sit out games then we will just play without him. And however many games he sits out we will add that many games to it and just leave him inactive. I'd like to see Dez's camps response to that

Negotiating in public is never a good idea, especially for the team.

The team is doing the right thing by keeping it's mouth shut while this thing drags on.

I don't begrudge any player trying to get his money. It's his body, his career.
Having said that, I simply can't get worried about stuff like this. It's part of the game. The only people who are going to look out for your best interest are you.
If Dez gets hurt in the service of the Dallas Cowboys, they're not going to continue to pay him the fullness of his contract. So he has to do what he has to do to protect himself or make as much as he can. And I aint gonna hate on him for that.

I do. I begrudge him big time.

a player to get millions because he can run fast or catch things coming at him is nothing to sneeze at.

the reason he is getting millions when people that came before him got thousands is because very smart people figured out how to market his skills.

Maybe not 17 million but close enough. No one thought Murray would get close to what he got, either. It all depends on what team wants or think it needs and Dez Bryant is a superstar top 5 player in the NFL.

There are teams that have won with great WRs and without them...I don't get the whole pointing out other teams thing. Every circumstance is different and this team isn't winning much without a running game or legit receiving threat. Not with Jason Garrett as coach.

if he was overall better than CJ you would be right but he is not. He is a great WR but even what CJ got was just stupid and you will not win in this league by being stupid with the cap. As for the slams on Garrett he is not holding them back he has helped put together a very good team and will continue to do so. Dallas cannot scarfice other talent because Dez wants some far-fetched contract. There is a reason many of the top teams stay at the top they are not foolish with the resources they have

No because he is technically not under contract. Dez can sit at home with the tag in front of him, watch Dallas play football for 10 weeks then sign it and still collect $13mil.

Even worse...he can do this for two seasons back to back. Those are years that Romo can't afford to not compete for a title so it puts the Jones family in a quandary if you ask me.

I find it interesting that some fans on here actually believe that this team will be fine without Dez Bryant. While I don't believe he will miss a game I also believe the Cowboys need him more than he needs the Cowboys. He can sit out and it not cost him a thing and if the Cowboys do the unthinkable and decide they'd rather be cheap than pay him he'll have zero problems finding a team that wants to pay him what he wants.

750 - 800k a game isn't costing him a thing?

Look at the bright side, if Bryant holds out, and the team ends up like 4-12, it will have a front-row seat for a franchise QB. :D

None of the other receivers command safety help over the top. You take Dez away from this offense, and teams disregard the passing game and stack the line. They already know they'll need extra men to stop this offensive line from springing one of the Average Joe runners. Take Dez away, and it's run blitz or open season on Tony Romo.

I'm not saying the Cowboys should cave into Dez's demands, but I'd hate to see this offense without Dez because he brings as much to the table as Murray did, and even more so, IMO.

This will be a wasted season without Him. It will be all about Romo again and we've seen how that ends up. Dez should get as much money as he can but I draw the line when he starts to sit out games. I hope it's just posturing on his part. If he sits out then it's just to stick it to the team.

QB/Passing wise? Yeah Romo is 10x better than Wilson.

The reason I say Wilson can do better with Average-trash WR's, is if you look at my post I said because of their skill set. Wilson can buy extra time to allow Average-trash WR's get open. No matter how good of a cover man you are, it's hard to cover forever. Add the fact he can also run.

Dallas could do what Det did give up some big contract and Dez can put up his stats but the bottom line is you will not win, if you have to let go of other top talent to make 1 guy happy you can hang up winning. Yes Dez may go to the HOF but so what. I pull for the Cowboys and their success not Dez, I like him but I like the Cowboys a whole lot more

Wilson does not have to do a lot, he has a defense so as long as he is not making critical mistakes his defense can keep them in the game. Wilson if forced to drop back a lot is not that good. Teams showed if you can contain him in the pocket he is not a great QB

Too bad Josh Gordon cant put the pipe down or Jerry could have threatened to trade Dez to Cleveland. That might give Dez's camp something to think about.

The franchise tag becomes FULLY GUARANTEED whenever the player signs it. The franchised player has until week 10 to sign it and will receive the FULL amount of the tag. The only exceptions exist where a team rescinds the franchise tag making the player an unrestricted free agent or if the player is deemed to not maintain himself in excellent condition physically.

Dez will earn $13mil if he signs the tag whether he plays 16 games, 15 games, 10 games or 6 games. That will impact the team in wins and losses hence why he is threatening to holdout. The only way he can lose 750k game checks is if he signs the tender THEN decides to holdout. No way Condon allows that to occur.

Show me some posts where you had the Cowboys winning much of anything entering the 2014 season. Maybe you need to zip it.

He's right though, you didn't have confidence In the team last year even with Murray and Dez on the team so why should we expect any different from you now?
