I blame the monkey.
It's because he played with his monkey.
I blame the monkey.
Pretty much this. I'm also finding it amusing and interesting that almost everyone was wanting Dez to come back as soon as he could and now it's he shouldn't have come back at all. Look it was a risk it didn't work. And as you said this season was over anyway so get whatever needs to be done now in preparation for next season.
he should have been IR'd earlier this season
The season was worth the risk. When Tony came back we had a real shot if we won a game or two while he was gone. It is always better to try. They both have a whole offseason to heal.
Might be the poorest contract yet for jj. He may never be the same .
This being an injury would make that a pretty odd conclusion.
Agreed with you that there was little to lose having Tony come back early and try.
I may disagree with you on Dez. Look no further than Hakeem Nicks for a guy who suffered a Jones injury, came back too early, ended up on IR and was NEVER the same player again.
Foot injuries are nothing to trifle with when it comes to WRs.
Let's hope the Cowboys didn't make a big mistake allowing to him come back so early.
I knew he came back to early. ESPN was right 12 weeks is the normal and with a chance of refracture. Everyone heralded his " healing" ability like he was wolverine or something. I hope this doesnt impact his offseason training and conditioning.
His long term game will be just fine IMO.
what does the staff have to do with Dez needing a few minor surgeries? He was medically cleared to play, and this could be entirely different issues.
Oh, just a continued way to knock the staff....
The season is done with. Notice how he doesn't go on IR until we are officially out of the playoffs?
I don't think he was 100% by any means, but ESPN jumped the gun in claiming that he was out for 12 weeks automatically
YR
I am looking at the entirety of his career not just this year. I don't understand why people think in small terms and don't want to look at the bigger picture.
My God who is running this teams medical department and evaluating injuries/decisions? Dr. Nick?
ESPN said it was an injury that typically took 8-12 weeks to recover from. The conclusion is the earlier he came back had a direct correlation in the increased chance of of him re-injuring to foot.
Yeah, he got himself out on the field way before it was healed. He generally suffered through a miserable season before ending up finally on IR.
Was ESPN really that off?
He was medically cleared to play but he was rushed back to try and help save the season that was slowly slipping away. He wasn't mentally or physically ready to play and his performances the rest of the season prove it. No coincidence the Cowboys picked the Seattle game for his return because they desperately needed him on the field in that game with the team riding a 4 game losing streak. Dez did virtually nothing as Richard Sherman hardly broke a sweat staying with him all day. We were stuck with a backup QB and Twill and the rest of the WRs weren't getting it done so Dez was rushed back. Even Garrett admitted Dez still wasn't his normal self several games after his return saying he was getting closer to being 100%. Dez couldn't even separate from average corners the biggest play he made was on a jump ball in the endzone. Jerry finally breaks down and resigns him to a huge contract and what do you know he gets injured and has a miserable season.
That's the kind of rotten luck this team has been having. Jerry has to be kicking himself that he didn't force Dez to play under the franchise tag. Had he done that he could have gotten him cheaper or he might have looked into trading him after a lousy injury plagued season that requires surgery. He certainly would have gotten him cheaper had he waited. Dez already carried a risk with off the field concerns now his health and his ability to get back to the level he was is a concern. Now we have to wonder if he'll will ever be the player he was after this injury and with him having been paid. He's has to be thanking his lucky stars he got paid when he did because he wouldn't have gotten that kind of money after a crappy season like this and playing on an injured foot that wasn't fully healed. It can be argued Romo brought back too soon because his backups weren't getting it done and the team was desperate.
How so? DB's know that they can get into his head as long as they continue to trash talk him during the game. Dez just can't jog back to the huddle, he's always got to be jawing back and forth with a DB. His route running has only improved a little bit, now that can be attributed to our 3 terrible QB's this year but how many other big name WR's do you see getting involved and making things happen? I never really cared for Irvin but the guy was always there. He could walk the talk. So before you get all cute with your "next" comment, lets look at things realistically. I like Dez and I am cheering him on but he's got to start maturing as a player.
Shut up monkey, I got company dude
