How can you not see the Cowboys going downhill? Nobody loves the Cowboys more than me, but can you honestly say you feel good about them right now? I was so pissed off during the game today because the Cowboys have the talent to dominate, but their lack of execution and passion makes them an average team.
Their execution has been terrible. Four defensive offsides penalties on one drive? Missed tackle after missed tackle?
An offense that has become so vanilla that you can just see the defense creeping up to put 8 in the box. Repeated fumbles by Crayton. Missed field goals. Repeated punts, not fielded, one by Newman put the ball on the one yard line. Just terrible play. Do you see the players catching hell on the sidelines or getting yanked after making repeated mistakes?
Do you see them improving from the first game or getting worse? You can say they've lost some guys to injury, but what team hasn't? This team does not get the leadership it needs from its Owner/GM or it's "head coach". There is zero accountability and that's just a shame. This team will continue to make the same mistakes because the head coach doesn't have the balls to make the necessary changes.
If Jerrah is ok with this type of team, then I hate to say it, but the Cowboys are destined for mediocrity.
It wasn't pretty, but at least we got the win. Things could be a lot worse; we could have actually lost today (How would like to be 2-3 getting owned by the Chiefs? The media would be having a field day). This game had last year's Rams written all over it from the beginning, but fiinally it was our team that made the plays
when they count the most. In this league, that's all you really need. The Giants and Steelers built their championships around that concept.
Are there holes in this team? Of course there are. I want Wade gone; If it was up to me, I would fire him despite our victory for the lack of preparation and team discipline. I don't think Garrett is utilizing the teams talent and skills in the appropriate way.
But again we got the victory and we have some solid things to build from:
- We have 3 very, very good RB's with 2 of them having some time to heal.
- Our defense is playing solid football overall.
- Austin breaking records in his first ever start and possibly cementing his role in the offense.
- Romo learning to manage the game and not forcing mistakes.
We are not there yet, but today's last second victory could be what we needed to energize this team and bring about the central theme of doing whatever is necessary to win the game. Gotta be happy about that.
