DMN Blog: Cowboys refuse to apologize for win/Brooking cherishes the win

Is there some objective statistical argument I can make for thinking this will happen?

I can do as much for my argument, can you?

Here, I'll save you some time: No, you cannot. Nothing within the realm of logic says we will finished 8-3. Absolutely nothing.

I think we have the talent and the coaching to do it.

We had the talent in '05, '06, '07 and '08, and much better coaching in '05 and '06. Our records those years? 9-7, 9-7, 13-3, 9-7, and all 4 years we had abysmal Decembers. This years December is tougher than in any of those previous years, and we didnt look this bad at the start of any of those years.

Back up that I think we'll win 11 games this season?

What's there to back up? Is there some objective statistical argument I can make for thinking this will happen?

I think we have the talent and the coaching to do it. There, it's "backed up."

WOW...WOW...some of you homers are SOOOOOO Blind. WAKE UP! THIS IS THE EXACT SAME TEAM AS LAST YEAR, perhaps worst. This is not rocket science people, its not even algebra. This team has made no adjustments except getting rid of some talented guys. You think we are going 11-5?!?!?!? This is the same coaching staff that over saw the Philly debacle. And you want to know what? Today would have been a Philly debacle if we would have been playing a decent team. We would have been down 28-0 against half the league today at the END OF THE 1st quarter.

So tell us oh great visionary how this thing is going to get turned around???????

This team will be .500 over the next four games, AT BEST, and that is giving them a lot of credit. thats two more losses, pencil in two losses in december, at best, best case scenario, for this team is 10-6

He gets an offsides penalty just about every game. Arguing about this with you people is futile. The Cowboys are one of the most undisciplined teams in the league on offense, defense, and special teams. They've been that way for years. If you want to sit there with your rose colored glasses on, i can't stop you.

no he doesn't. the few times he's been called for offsides, the majority have been garbage calls.

you people? *** is that supposed to mean? I'm sorry I'm smarter than you.

I really doubt that what I am about to say is true, but sometimes it sure seems that way.
Because of the win, no one will be held accountable for all those stupid penalties, dropped passes, bad routes run, poor tackles, fumbles ...etc.

Probably about 10 or 12 days from now, the coaches will tell the team, "you guys know what you did wrong last game, go get it right next time. Now lets concentrate on the next game & forget the last game."

I figure that's about all that will be said.

LOL @ you thinking you can make a statistical argument that we will not go 11-5.

(2.436*wesucks)^romoblows / wad31safa77y =< 10-6

Actually, this December likely won't be as tough as last year's, which was a ridiculously tough schedule, and we'll hopefully have a healthy Romo.

Of course, nothing you said is a statistical argument. But with an Aggie education (did you actually ever finish college?) I wouldn't expect you to know the difference.

How can an offsides call be garbage? Either you're offsides or you aren't. You sir are what's referred to as a Stepford Fan.

uh..actually they can be. several times last year he was called for off sides because he got such a good jump. replays showed he was not.

Haha, I suppose today's were too? Just stop with the B.S. The way this team is playing, they're in serious trouble.

It is really sad that this is what this franchise has become.
The fanbase is far sadder than the franchise. I'm proud of the team, embarrassed at the fans of the team.

referring to multiple offsides on DWare this game? there was only one and he almost got back in time.

Record in final 11 games:

2005: 6-5
2006: 6-5
2007: 8-3 (But 2-2 in December)
2008: 5-6

Our final 11 games are far tougher this year than in any of the above years.

Wade Phillips record in final 11 games as a head coach:

1993: 6-5
1994: 6-5
1998: 7-4
1999: 7-4
2000: 6-5
2007: 8-3 (But 2-2 in December)
2008: 5-6

He has never had a December over .500 as a head coach for a full season.

Your turn

Yeah, the last 5 games are tough but not THAT tough and they're balanced out by the next 6, four of which are at home.

We have a chance to pile up some wins going into that stretch. I just don't expect us to do it (but I'm repeating myself now.)

No, the franchise is sadder. 10 years since a playoff victory, a revolving door of head coaches, an owner that won't let coaches do their job...yeah something to really hang your hat on.

Another argument that cannot be backed up with anything factual

But with an Aggie education (did you actually ever finish college?) I wouldn't expect you to know the difference.

I did, and am now in med school, doing more with my life than you could ever possibly fathom to accomplish.

You're obviously wrong, I've proven you wrong, and now you've resorted to personal attacks. I've got nothing else to say.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

I totally agree, but the accountability has to come from 2 people. Jerrah and Wade. The fact that Jerrah was fist pumping and hugging his son in the booth tells me that he's satisfied. Total B.S.

So you are Sigmund Freud and you know Jerry is totally satisfied. How about he exulted in the moment just like the players, coaches and most fans did. Heck I was mad and frustrated about the penalties and the way we were giving the game away. I felt sick when the defense cratered in the waning moments of the 4th quarter when we had the game in hand.

But the offense and the defense stepped up in the 4th quarter and that is that. Trust me they don't have to remind themselves how they struggled in this game, they will be watching the film to confirm what they did right and what the screwed up and work to correct things.

I have to be. Being hard on guys like you causes weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth. You look terrible in sackcloth and ashes. I berate myself for you.

You're welcome.
