It was time for Owens to go, I was opposed to the move. But in terms of what this team needs to do to move forward, getting rid of him was the right move. As much as I liked his production, his work ethic, and how he impacted younger players' work ethic - he was too polarizing of a personality for Romo, Garrett, and Wade. Three rather passive guys, no longer had a voice.

With that said, we can't keep forgetting that had Jerry not pulled the trigger on Roy mid-season.

We would have 14 draft picks, no T.O - and enough picks to select any WR we wanted basically.

There is a lot of pressure on Roy E Williams. Too much pressure, IMHO for him to be able to live up to the expectations the media and Jerry have put on his shoulders.

But ya never know, winning cures all - we could win a blinkie next year pounding the rock and playing solid defense with Roy having an average year. Thats why they play the game...

You never know, maybe some pressure is exactly what he needs. Certainly there wasn't any on him in Detroit, where there were no expectations whatsoever.

I never liked Deion either.

T.O. and Deion are of the same breed. Self-serving showmen. Spotlight craving egomaniacs.

Cry on Deion, If I could I would relegate you to Buffalo too.

Go Cowboys!

who cares what that tard says. Go do another reality show and keep that spotlight shining right on your bald dome dude.

and in 2004, we lost dan campbell and terry glenn. Jason witten had his best season, he was basically unstoppable that year. So there goes that theory.

That little group from the nfl network is going to be impossible to watch just like espn this year. They are all mad the white guys didnt fired or blamed so they are going to have an axe to grind all season.
Yeah, that tard as you call it, is the best CB to lace it up, won 2 SBs, and could shut down any receiver on this planet.

IMO, he's dead on, and I've been preaching it all summer long, and I'll be right here to remind all of you this up coming season. Jason Witten will have a great year, because he will be thrown to thousands of times this year, and Roy "big stiff" williams will be absent a ton of games except those gimmy games where even a high school team could beat them.

Romo doesn't have the mental make up to check down, and when he does, his arm will not get it done for him. Again, no more easy scores from here out, we will be sub-500 even with that easy, last place schedule we have.

I find it laughable that all of a sudden RW11 is a scrub, cant beat single coverage, doesnt practice, ect......

The dude was a straight up baller at UT, I watched many of his games in Austin. There was nobody on the field that could cover the guy, seriously.

He then was drafted by one of the worst teams in the NFL with practice squad level talent at QB and responded by making the probowl.

Jerry himself has said that Roy has been working out at Valley Ranch with Tony, but apparently that is a body double because Prime Time says he doesnt practice. (This is the same Deon that avoided practice like the plague when he played and made the comment that it was a "business decision" to not make tackles).

So Deon busting Roy's balls about practice habits is about as hypocritical as you can get.

I also remember alot of guys on this board were screaming for another WR after teams started "bracketing" TO and Roy Williams was always mentioned along with Fitzgerald and others.

These same posters are now pissing on the trade and crying about how we got raped by the Lions. Yet another case of hypocrisy at its finest!!!

I agree with this. Roy is not a scrub. He is a quality WR and I am glad to have him.

I do have concerns from what I did see with him in the games he played for us.
I do have some concerns about what he says. He threw Romo under the bus 2x that I remember.

I hope it works out.

The guy is an average player. He could not get separation with a star WR and a star TE in the game, he was one on one in every game and was NEVER opened.

All of a sudden, he's supposed to figure out how to get opened? I think not.

And everyone seems to forget Bennet, him and Witten together could easily get 1300 - 1500 yrds.

I dont know.

I need to see more.

At that point the ENTIRE offense was blowing nuggets.

He has some real distinct advantages in coverage.

Great, soft hands
Jump ball

I want to see this work. Overreacting because of last year where we flat out stalled is not the way to go.

When you put awsome talent that takes up all the attention next to you, if you can't perform, you're useless. We see how good Witten performed with a Star next to him.

As others have pointed out, he performed pretty good in 2004 with a washed up Keyshawn next to him.

How exactly do we have a last place schedule when we finished ahead of the Commanders???

There is also something called "common opponents" among division rivals. ALL NFC EAST TEAMS HAVE 14 GAMES THE SAME!!!

There are only 2 games difference between division rivals and that is determined by your standing in the division. For example, we finished 3rd place in our division so we play the 3rd place finisher from the NFC North division (which is Green Bay) where the Giants who finished 1st would play a first place team from another division and so forth.

However, 14 games are the same for the entire division, that is almost 88% identical schedules. So if we benefit from an easy schedule, so does the rest of the NFC East as well.

The idea that we will be sub-500 is just laughable.

I'm not predicting doom. But I don't disagree with that analysis of Roy either.

Honestly the guy has similarities to Alvin Harper that scare me a lot.

We need him to be MUCH better than Alvin Harper.

Because Alvin Harper wasn't a #1 WR hence why he bounced around the league after TB paid him #1 money and then cut him.

In eight of his games last year he had 38 yds or less. That is not #6 or #7 production.

That was due to a stubborn Coordinator. In Garrett's first year he was great, and the next he doesn't have a clue of how to run an offense. He made that whole Offense look bad, except for Witten.

Deon is starting to remind be of Al Bundy. "Did I ever tell you about the time I scored 4 touchdowns in high school?"

LOL.....:laugh1:

If the guy is such an average player, then why were teams outbidding each other trying to trade for him???

Detroit themselves said Dallas was one of several teams they were negotiating with, so I guess you know more than the GMs and scouts do that actually evaluate players for a living.

Also, have you stopped and considered that maybe the reason TO is no longer here is because other WRs were open, but the ball was being forced to TO???

You think that could have been a factor in the decision, TO's constant whinning about not getting the ball and in Romo's ear constantly about not throwing him the ball enough???

Do you think it is just a coincidence that this "star WR" you speak of could only get a job on a wasteland team like Buffalo???.........talk about being banished to the wastelands of the NFL.

Jon Kitna has been around some really good receivers, and he says good things about Roy Williams.
