its not about his ability i am worried about,he just hasnt grown up and his propensity to screw up will be greater closer to home.

Of course!

Bringing him home to Dallas would rank as one of the stupider things this organization could do.

If the kid is uncontrollable in Cleveland, how long before he completely loses his career in Dallas?

I'm really torn about Manziel.

And I have to ask everybody here..

why are you so judgemental about Johnny Football?

As far as I know..he hasn't been arrested for public intoxication..

not arrested for driving while intoxicated..

hasn't flashed little OL' ladies at a bus stop..

Isn't a fugitive from an animal cruelty bench warrant..

the over reaction comes from what the press and the media wanting to smear the guys potential becuz he was so hyped in college and many people thought he didn't deserve it being only a 2 year starter.

He has done nothing to anybody and if he has an addiction problem..

It's his business and no one else's and if a team wants a Prima Ballerina for a QB then that is their privilege.

But this nonsense about he's a train wreck and can't be trusted better not take too close a look at our owner.

This guy drinks like a fish, can't be trusted to make good decisions and is a multi-billionaire.

And he wants Manziel.

The fans need to grow up and stop letting the haters run their world.

Manziel would be a perfect landing spot and we might win a world championship before the next decade is up..

Romo couldn't do it.

What I hope is that Jerrah doesn't make another huge mistake like he did when he took Ellis over Randy Moss because of character issues.

This is again what is driving the conversation and we lost last time playing that game.

And frankly, Jerrah should have taken Manziel last year when he had the chance.?and he should have drafted Moss.

If he gets another chance at Manziel..he shouldn't miss it this time.

It's because the league could care less about breaking any laws.

Right now you look cross-eyed at someone and you're suspended a couple games.

Do it again and you're gone for a season.

And in the meantime the Cowboys STILL need a young QB to groom AND a vet backup.

And when was the last time the league treated the Cowboy organization fairly?

Regardless of what fans or anyone thinks about Manziel, I find it hard to believe that Jerry Jones cares.

Think of the relevance.

And for those that have been supportive of Jones' foibles, why draw the line at this? It would fall in line what what he does when he steps into the spotlight.

BTW, he is always in the shadows ready to assert his opinion over the consensus, regardless of what the minority opinion on this board would like to think.

The dudes been complete self entitled since his inception, since he was driving around A&M in a 100,000$ car partying more often than not, and since he's been in the NFL. He's never going to get it together.[/quote]

I don't think he is willing to change. But I would not mind risking a 7th round pick for him. Still we need to draft Romo's heir and I don't think that JF is the guy. Besides the only QB I would take in this years draft in the 1st round is Goff. The others just don't impress me all that much.

Agreed 100%.

This team was not built on following conventional wisdom.

It was built on leading and being innovative and taking chances.

This franchise has lost that.

It returned briefly when Jimmy Johnson came..

But left former when he left Dallas.

If we continue to not innovate and go where other teams fear to go..

we are never going to succeed.

Because you described that place perfectly, it wouldn't shock me if he's trying to get traded.

If Dallas does indeed pick him up then it will definetely look like a bit of a conspiracy.

I highly doubt we will draft a Qb in this draft, they will go after a FA or trade for one.

Even if cowboys were able to control his addiction problems and get him to focus on playing ball, he still wouldn't be worth it. He simply isn't a good QB to begin with.

I agree they havent been able to control Jerry's addiction, how are they going to fair with Johnny Football. :D

I like the player but all the baggage may make this move not worth it.

Still.. He's an improviser and if you're going to keep the worst coach in the NFL you need a improviser at QB.

That is why he probably has a better chance in Dallas than anywhere else that has a functional offense.

He is the closest thing to Romo that you will find on the cheap.

I know that will rub some people the wrong way, but I am talking about on the field.

Players that go out of the script are a frustrating component for most NFL coaches to deal with.

Garrett has made his reputation off of Romo making him look good by accident.

At this moment, who in free agency?

I keep seeing this, but do people that say this know exactly who is available in free agency at the position?

It is not good. It can only be fortified if players like Manziel and Griffin get thrown overboard.

And even those fortifications are frightening.

I really wish he wasn't a Texas product because I suspect nobody would care about him at all.

Guy screwed up so much that one of the most QB-deprived teams the NFL has seen over the past 20 years cut bait after just 2 seasons.

If you pick him up for a low pick and then get him past his addiction problems you might be on to something but this can't be our post-Romo bet. It's way too risky!

Manziel addresses the Cowboys said "top offseason priority" in back up QB, but thinking his value may be a little higher, a mid-round choice.

This move has JJ all over it... Unfortunately. Off the field issues aside-- I just don't see Manziel as a championship caliber QB in the NFL. And trading for him would prevent us from actually drafting a prospect like Goff, Cook, or Lynch (I like Cook in a trade down scenario personally).

Not firing Garrett, then trading for Manziel to "fix" the backup QB situation is exactly the kind of compound mistake JJ loves to make.
