Maybe , he won’t be a 1st ballot, but it will also be about his accumulated career stats coupled with his rings and name heritage .

Eli wasn’t Elite from season to season but he’s top 10 career wise in passing yards and TD’s . Along with 2 time SB MVP where he often had his best games on the biggest stages. Impact is also a qualifier for HOF.
Judging by his peers, his career stats do not add up. Not even close.

Not looking for an argument here as I really don't have a strong opinion on this, just knowing you are another old fart who has seen a lot of football I'm interested in your opinion on which Cowboy QB's through the teams history would you rate as "elite". I know it's hard to judge different eras but consider how they played during their time. I know Staubach and Aikman jump to mind, but who else? Meredith? White? Romo? LeBaron? To me, there are guys like White and Romo, who while very good, would we rate them as elite?
Dandy, Aikman, Staubach. That's it. No one else is really close.

I’ve been going to bat for him in recent years against the Dak Haks but in another thread been arguing with a fan I actually agree on many issues but he believes Prescott has become Elite and in Top 5 of QB’s in the league.

He even asked me what 5 QB’s are better. Which was an easy response. Prescott is arguably by most sound analysts and critics closer to a Top 10 QB, not Top 5. Which being in the next best group isn’t a bad place to be .

The argument stemmed from a basis narrative of his that Elite QB’s were a necessity to being a consistent contender in Cap era. Which is another argument within itself . There are exceptions to that rule as well. But the argument initiated with criticism of franchises with less playoff success this era. We actually agree to a point on that basis.

And then he said Dak has become Elite. Even saying that he had bashed him earlier in his career. Are there other fans who also believe he has become Elite? I thought besides the extremes on both sides of the Haks and Homers that most felt he was closer to Top 10 to above average . Enough to build around and hopefully have more success.

Like most franchises except for a handful who have an Elite QB, you have to build around average to above average QB’s. No shame in that . Anyway, curious where the vibe is at this time . Not interested in hearing from the extremes. Thanks

It’s such a dumb argument. What is elite? All I care about is, ‘Does our QB have the skill set to make a legit playoff run every year with a decent team around him?’.

The answer for Dak is, ‘Yes’.

For me there has only been a handful of elite qbs. And Dak is a top 7 in todays game. If he keeps playing at a high level he could move up. Plays worse and slides down the scale.

Most qbs need a supporting cast. And running qbs never last. We are seeing it every year.

Dak needs to win a SB and continue to play at a higher level to be elite. I think elite is a title earned with post season success. The only reason wilson was considered elite was because of a supporting cast. Look at him now.

It's amazing to me how several people (who have reacted on this post) are backtracking on this "Elite" crap now. I'm not going to mention names but I had arguements with several on here because I debunked the idea of him being this so called Elite.

People are finally opening their eyes....

He just had a couple of his best games in his career, but ok.

Well, they are doing very good now. Enjoy the ride.

We’ve seen this before. They were 12-5 last year and fizzled out in playoffs. They were 13-3 a few years ago and dropped a turd.

All this is largely meaningless if they just do what they always do and implode in the postseason.

Curious as to who is in your top 7?

Is Cousins? Because he and Dak seem quite similar.

I don’t care if he’s elite or not he’s our qb and I’ll root for him today.
I think he has elite moments and not so elite moments he isn’t the most cerebral guy behind center for sure.
That said yes plenty good enough to win with and he’s far from our biggest concern

Stats matter for fantasy owners, agents, and some players trying to get big pay days. Tell me who trains in the off season etc to have the biggest STATS, you do all that hard work to WIN!!!!
don't get your shorts tied in a knot...so if wins/losses are the only thing that count, does it mean Wins/Losses are a QB stat? and technically speaking wins/losses are a stat too. just sayin
